Great interview Jeff !!!!!!!!!!!! I don't need to tell you what I thought about your abilities.... geeeeez.
Jeff helped me sort out my riding at a very crucial time , and I'm forever greatful . I always knew Jeff through the years, but never really got to know him until Howie and Jeff rescued me down in Iowa, when a certain person left me ( no joke ). Jeff and his Dad took me in that day and we continued the next 2 days down in Iowa.... and the rest is history.... Thanks Jeff, your a true inspriation to me.

Jeff you cranked so hard, great style to boot, and deserved a factory ride! Awesome interview and see you up in Brainerd July 7 & 8th.

Great interview!
Some of you have heard my "Jeff Manning was the first BMXer I ever heard of" story. But I'll repeat if for those who haven't. Ha!
My cousins lived down the block from Jeff and had a collection of stories about what Manning could do on a BMX bike. They'd come up to northern MN for the summer and we'd build jumps and doubles and talk about how "if Manning were here, he'd just jump the whole %&$#%^ ditch instead of riding through it" or "I bet he'd just bunnyhop this" We were about 9 or 10 or something like that.
After 26 years of wondering if the stories were true, and if there really was a Jeff Manning, I got to meet Jeff at the Conley Classic last winter. He confirmed that my cousins were partially full of crap.
Manning rocks!

That #13 is none other than our own Ted Carl, and #7 is Shawn Sheely! That #9 guy (Troy Lembke) just found my site tonight and gave me a call a little while ago...

Awesome interviews....
You need to devise an interview for the New Schoolers and insert them here for us....Hand em a pencil and paper, and tell them they will miss thier next moto if they don't comply....resistance is futile...
What do you want to be when you grow up? Why do you race? Best part about racing? Best part about the tracks? Who'w your hero, mentor, competition? Are they going to be as fat as us when they are 40? Etc... Then paste em with a pic here, and steer them here (And the MC site of course) with a sticker with the web addresses so they can see it posted amongst us....Afterall it is about melding our universes, is it not?
BTW, "13 is not me....dunno who it is, but it does look like me...but it taint..appears to be a GT...

Ya Mark, that can't be Ted, unless he borrowed my GT that day (when I wasn't looking), I was even

Man-o-man, thanks for all the kind words guys! You know how to make a guy blush. You make me feel like its my Birthday or something! HaHa
Yeah that picture is pretty cool of everybody suspended in the air. I think I asked before, but know one responded. Who took that picture? Sandberg? In that picture, all the bikes are GT's except mine, Hutch.. Actually the only picture Howie took of them is the B&W.
The #13 guy is Rick Kubat. I saw him a couple of years ago at the Barn, he was racing Cruiser. I'm really suprised that he hasn't been racing lately, you guys would have a good size moto count. Maybe someone can rope him in to show up again!
I'm doing my marathon march of sleepless hours, 32 to be exact, so its off to Beddy-Bye!!

Nice interview, Jeff.
Jeff was the first guy I saw (besides Harry Leary in BMXA) do a front wheel skid.
He was also, in my opinion, one of the most stylish racers in Minnesota, ever.
And whoever said it above had it absolutely right: Jeff deserved a factory ride.
Oh, yeah...another thing...Jeff always reminded me of the lead singer of Loverboy.
BTW, I have the original photo you ask of Jeff, and I'm sure that your dad took it. No clue why I have it, so I will surely mail it to its rightful owner. Maybe I should send it to Redelsperger, so he can give it to you?

Lo-Moe - Get me Kubat's email and send me, we need to get him to show his face at some OSNS events.
JOHNbob - rescan that pic of Loverboy at 300 dpi and send me and I'll sketch a print out for manhole-front-wheel-skidder
O' yeah...Lembke called me last night.... I think if he gets back on a bike again, Moe and the other elders may have a little comp rolling their way.

Hey!
Thanks for the comments on the AZ! I love that bike, it hung in the rafters of my garage for 2 years before I had it chromed in 2005. I have to thank Paul Smith for helping me out with all the parts and the special seat (note the Ace of Spades) he had stitched for me. This frame was serial number 13.
BA, here is some more info on the project. Man, people keep coming out of the woodwork, this is great!

Mikko, nice Azuza. Man, I wish I could have been at the barn all three days. I missed a lot.
Not trying to put this on anyone, but we need to plan another ride soon. It's been two weeks without riding the bike. Maple Plain would have been a great location, but that's not going to happen now. Ideas?

No ideas at all. I'm holding out for the new indoor dirt track in Eden Prairie coming in June. Sounds like neat deal. I'm sure it'll be a "jump busy" track, but that's the way is dooooooooodes!

I was trying to find info on an Eden Prarrie BMX track and ran into this.
quote:
Dennis Porter presented a packet of information that he had received from the American BMX Association. Randy Quale stated that unfortunately the widely held perception of users of BMX tracks as ne’er-do-wells is the same as that of users of skateboard parks. It probably would not be feasible to put a BMX track in one of the City’s smaller neighborhood parks due to neighborhood opposition.
That's from the Bloomington PARC meeting. Damn neighbors.

John Sandberg, There is a new indoor dirt track going up in Eden Prairie and it sounds like early June it'll be ready to race 'n' ride. I spoke to the track operator and they are racing Tues night and Sunday's all year. Not sure on practice times though.. Sounds like the ABA is building it, so we'll see. Great news for you and Cal.. WOW, thats like 25 miles from your place vs 100miles... LOL!

Myabe we should all meet at the old Richfield track location. I will bring the surgical tube rubber band for the OS start. We'll just mark off where the course used to be and have at it. Whn the cops come and try to bust up the party we'll just pull a old flyer out from 1982 and suddenly realize we were off 25 yrs. Or go with it and have a 25 year anniversary.
