Thank you for your cooperation.
I personally enjoy what both of you do. I think it makes MN a very strong presence in BMX. And I think you both try very hard to promote this sport in different ways.
I know that I was away for a couple of weeks, and would have thought that negative way of thinking would have passed by now.
Anyway, I'm excited to participate in both the Old School/New school final event, AND the FACTION BBQ 3!
Thank you both Mark, and Mike.

Anyone going to Isanti tomorrow for "DQ" night? Haahaaa... I was hoping it could be local tavern night.
Mark, you should start a track in Austin and have a "Hey Rub's" night..... Haahaaa. Entry fees, beer and a hog for the low low price of Tree-Fitty

Thank you Mark.
OSers, we need to end the year in style at the barn weekend. Bring something fun to show and something fast to race. Sunday is another OS invitational race for all of us veteran BMXers.

I think eventually the original MN thread will resurrect itself....
John, have you raced at all this Summer?
John Sandberg
Aug 30 2007, 11:47 AM
B-Rad: I've raced my mountain bike a bunch, but not once in BMX. Still leaving that (whether or not to race BMX) up to Cal.
I got an email from Dave Christensen last night. His son Cal raced his first BMX event at St. Michael in early Aug., with a 2nd place trophy to show for it! Dave himself took a gate for the first time in 22 years and won!
B. Apold
Aug 31 2007, 09:06 AM
John, No kidding!!! Dave winning his first race is no suprise to me .
Having Dave race should inspire you to do the same....Maybe?.
I have a feeling your at about the same place as I am. I raced a couple times and it was really fun, BUT, I don't plan to do it allot, just once in a while.
I think if you were to commit to the sport you would shake things up in a big way.... as you've prove'd all the skills are certainly there.
MTB: Sad subject with me this year...real sad

Brad, I love racing, no matter what the vehicle. And I would love to race BMX again, but I don't want our family to dive into that because of me, rather, we would do it if/because my son wants to.
My life (and my wife's) revolved around me racing (bikes, snowmobiles) for 22 years. When we had kids, I wanted that to change.
(Even still, I've raced mtb/moto 15-20 times this year, so I'm still feeding the beast...)
Last night I took him to practice night at Elko (motocross) for the second time. Amazingly fun too. If he wants to race moto, we'll probably go down that path too.
The good news is that Conley is sponsoring all our racing efforts. Full-factory ride too, so there's no out-of-pocket expenses. That helps.

Aug 31 2007, 10:31 AM
John, I know exactly what your saying. I notice most guys our age start racing because the kid races and I guess they figure, I'm here, might as well try it, and BOOM....There head over heels..Its cool.
For me at this point, its to stay as fit as I can without breaking bones, so having that said, I ride and race with caution. Once that gets in the way of others, I'll back off all together. I didn't race my car at all this year, but plan to in Sept and Oct... Its been a crazy year and I need to have some "my time" too.... I devoted all my time to the Family this Summer and I'm totally okay with that...of course ....
Racing moto to me would be allot more fun than bmx. The mx tracks vs bmx tracks are really about the same nowdays vs hp difference... However a new cycle every year or two is a major expense...
MC has paid for everything for me too and what can I say.... very greatful..

Wow John, if you've raced MTB's that much this year, you wouldn't have any problems at the BMX track. I wouldn't have expected any less though.
I can't wait till we cross paths at the track sometime. Cal sounds like a cool kid and I would love to see the next generation Sandberg racer in action.
If you guys (John, Brad, all OSers) want to have fun, you should make it a point to race with us in the OS Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 30th. No pressure, no points, just fun. If it's like Isanti, no cost to race either.
BTW, I'm still waiting for the MC sponsorship deal. Better hold off on those Ramen noodles, Mark.

When I get home I blow my nose and its not good that's forsure (dust and stuff). I too am looking forward to some indoor stuff again. It sure helps the dark months fly by. I hate Jan and Feb.
My bike. Strange creek sound. I thought it was the cranks, so I man'd them, but the noise is still there. I was sitting on the bike and noticed its coming from the seat/post area. Its got that aluminum "dead" sound to it as well.

Brad, that "creek" sound is not the bike, it's called old age man.

WBL, never!! Snow= no go for me. Its a good thing we only have 3 months of it now days, but I'm sure as time changes that will too and we'll be back to 6 months of it. If it doesn't snow before TG day, I'm a happy man.
