Bruce/ Springer That Robinson is sweet! That is the same bike I had when I was 14-15 years old. I would say it is an 80' or 81' same time line as Tremco/ Rondo team issues. Right Sandberg?
I'll be in Millville/ Zumbrota this weekend watchin Ricky Carmichael on his farewell tour. Should be fun I got a pit pass and everything, gonna party like a Rock Star!
Mark call me. I have a new cell phone that just wants to eat up the minutes, Springer has my #.

Jeff, yup its Ricky's last event. Wild huh? the O'l GOAT right in here in MN...
Also, look for a rider named Kyle Lewis. He's a pro from So. Cali and my cousin Kenny's good buddy and this is his last year racing too. He's always in the mix. I have a youtube of his crash and I gotta show you guys this one. I'd never ride again after his crash...! Yikes!

Tonights Elk River event went good. It was certainly and OS vs NS race and the 16x cruiser riders got the 1st and 2nd, while Moe got 3rd, me-4th, WBL 5th, and Pauli 6th.
My gate 1 lane draw was the nail in the coffin for me. Once I made it to the first jump I had know where to go as Mr Rixen (16x) was next to me and I had to let off the gas. Oh well, I didn't crash and I consider that victory in itself....LOL!!!! I felt strong in the moto and just had tough luck in the main... That's bmx... All good..
Hannah got 3rd out of 3, so she was happy and that makes me happy... Congrats girl!!!!

Good times, even though I didn't qualify. I can't tell you how enjoyable it is to hang out and race with you guys. Don't forget DQ Double points on Thursday at Isanti next week. Despite the high dewpoint levels and cloudiness you did great Apold. Your stroller pushing workout program seems to be paying off.

Fun times indeed. Brad, it was great seeing you again. Way to go Moe. I can still see you flying down the middle of the first straight.
Thursday's DQ Dbl. next week is a must. I'm off to race the southern tour this weekend. See you guys next week.
MC - it was odd not having you at the race. We missed you.

Pauli, how bout that 2nd moto start I had??? Not sure what happened there, but it all worked out.
I too had a great time. There are many reasons I was so winded at the race last Wed. and I felt gobbs better last night. I went around 3 times/practice and that really helped.
I was a bit confused how they ran our main before my daughter 3rd moto. Being most of the motos are total point is there 3rd moto ran in sequence to our actual main? There were calling me to get up to the starting hill and I as like "huh"? 3rd motos haven't ran yet...
Dbl points huh? sounds like fun. Maybe we'll actually have a class. LOL!!!!!
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Aug 9 2007, 09:47 AM
Brad, what you didn't see was Pauli giving you a little push to tip you over.
I did see you put a foot down out of the corner of my eye. How you recovered so fast is beyond me.
As far as the main deal, when you have a total points moto, the third moto for that class is run in the main. Last night, we only had a couple of classes with more than three riders, so round three was very short.

Anyone care to hit the driving range with me next week?
B. Apold
Aug 9 2007, 11:12 AM
Mikko, No golf Brad won't be going.. You don't have that kind of time to wait for me...That bad!
WBL, I guessed that's the way they ran them, but as you know I was like "what? now?" and you were saying yes, its time. LOL!!! I didn't see that coming. haahaahaa
My gate: I think I started to loose my balance just slightly and then my tyre moved off the gate, then causing me to put my foot down and then the gate dropped. I flipped the freewheel around and pushed off with my opposite foot because my right foot is what caught my fall... Weird. Kinda funny. I wish MC could have video'd that.

Jeffrey, I'll take it! Haahaaa. I need a bike for my son.
The 90's Robinson's were GT's. I had a Robinson pro SST 20" (Mark Conley's kid owns it now), but I'm guessing the frame/fork is a GT from that same year.

Well, it finally happened. Thanks Moe for planting the notion in my head after our Weds night race. First moto in Faribault, I go down hard on Moe's favorite jump.
I think there is some good to come from this incident. I now know that 1) the ground is very hard, 2) the body is sore but ok, and 3) some body armor is on the shopping list. Consolation - another trophy and 126 points. Seems like a great tradeoff.
Now you guys will really fear me - I have tasted pain and I'm ready for more. Okay, maybe that is the Advil talking.

Anyone see/hear from Wendall???
I watched the game, which was cool, but the news afterwards made me want to vomit. They were talking about routing traffic around the to 280 and how they were going have to close it expand it. Then they interviewed people in re to the closings. It was whiner after whiner. I think they have forgot that there are still people that are missing and lives were lost. Leave earlier f'ers.
I feel better now.
Heal up Scott!

Mikko - I am back..hit the Cities as the storm hit. Downshifted into 4x4. Plowed through 5 over-fills on 35W. Drove over trees in my neighborhood. I have lost my grill to the tree. ugh. Garage is probably dinged too. I did a walk about in the rain to look...just stack it ontop of the rest of my day.
Had a INCREDIBLE Pre-Fish! Then....poof...fish gone. This morning the lower unit went belly up. Merc truck swapped it out in 15min, but out of warranty. $$$$$
BUT, my NS shipments keep coming...oooh it is sick...very sick!
Stopped off at the bike shop in Escanaba. Matt has some very cool OS Cruisers. Not BMX, but still...AMAZING!
Off to bed for me. I have to call the insurance boys in a few, then pull the chain saw out.

Scott/WBL, The crashing thing sucks, no doubt. Like most of us you've experienced the part of bmx that (as an adult) will sometimes make you think twice about trying to race and beat a 16x. Did it cross my mind the other night?....sure did, but its not worth it (to me), so then I wrestle with the bmx demonds and think if I'm not giving it 150% why am I doing this?? To rub tyres with Moe?? LOL! That's about all I can do. I don't want any perminent injuries... It sucks. Glad your okay though... I think I'll continue to race once in a while, but its like Speeding on the 94, the more I speed, the greater chance I have of falling...ya know? Sure is fun racing guys (16x) that are killer fast.. Makes ya motivated!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. That was my worst BMX crash ever. At least I still know how to fall right or it could have been a lot worse. Late last night it dawned on me "what if I was clipped in".
Most of you probably don't know but Faribault's last double jump just as you enter turn one is a beast. The leading ramp is like a mini quarter pipe and it's almost 5 feet high. Well, I had a good pull going and I didn't realize how fast I was going until I hit the face of the jump.
I’m not completely comfortable doing the manual thing yet so I like to pull the front tire up before I get there and suck up the rear. Well, I pulled up too much and couldn't keep the rear from riding up the face. This shot me straight up like I was going to jump it. When I pulled up, I knew it was going wrong and I wasn't prepared to be that high in the air. I should have adjusted and jumped the thing but my first thought was to get back on the ground. Wrong choice in hindsight.
I just pushed the bike off to the side and did the tuck and roll just past the landing (yes, my body cleared the double). Arms first, roll, then the lower back hit and I popped right up. I never laid there. My first thought was to grab the bike and get moving but the chain came off somehow. So I had the slow walk back to the pits. That's were the stiffness started to settle in my lower back.
As a true racer, I was back on the gate and took second in moto 2 (total points). I was in position to get second overall and I had second into the first turn during the main, but the soreness was too much to hold it the whole way. By the way, the guy we were chasing was unbelievable. He was doing can-cans over the doubles. Very cool to watch.
I'm still thinking of racing Sunday in New Ulm, but we'll see how today goes. I really want to race the Isanti DQ Dbl. on Thursday, and be ready for the state finals the following weekend.

Scary Scott glad you are ok. That double scares me. Sounds like my crash there last year but I went endo down the back side. Let me guess you raced Dan Wenish (CAN-CAN-DAN)
B. Apold
Aug 11 2007, 10:53 AM
Wenish? How old is he? Never heard of him.
Jeff, I think you were talking about Faribault Wed at the races. Is that the same jump yo don't like as well?
Scott/WBL, Man, sounds like quite the fall. Glad your alright man. That stiffness sets in quick forsure. Last year I launched my OS GT20" over some jump at St. Michael and the bike just took off straight up and I landed on my back with my feet on the pedals (no clips)and hands on the grips...The track officials said they heard a "OAFFFF" when I landed all the way from the gate....LOL! I heard it too... Damn that stung!
WBL BMXer - aka Chucky
Aug 11 2007, 01:00 PM
You're right Moe. It was Dan Wenish. Dan's only 34 and he raced in the late 80's I think. Actually, I think he's been off and on since he started.
Just had Motoprimo order a 661 pressure suite - we'll see how that works.
Brad - Moe was talking about the same jump on Weds. Faribault in my opinon just doesn't have a nice flow to it like Isanti or Elk River. Tought track.
B. Apold
Aug 11 2007, 02:02 PM
Scott/WBL, its always fun to try and hang with fast smooth riders, AND there are plenty around the state forsure.
After talking to Matt and DUG Wed, sounds like the barn is going get some changes too. For the "general" bmx rider, its a bit tight and big for the room they have. Matt's ideas were real cool. Faster, but safer I think. I like the track now, but I liked it better before. The first straight is the awesome.

Thursday = DQ Double Points @ Isanti
Anyone else?
Anyone heard of a guy named Rod Byrnes?

I once knew a guy named Rod, but I think he's a myth. I hope everything is ok and he's just busy.
Springer - I just looked at Isanti's website and they list Thursday as a practice with some extra surprises, but they aren't promoting a Dbl points race. Can you confirm an actual race on Thursday?
Conley - How was the rest of the weekend? I was a little too sore to race and I didn't want to do anything to keep me from racing the state finals. (Actually, the wife said "if you're too sore to mow the lawn, you aren't' going racing")
