Full Version: 1980 TORKER MX BUILD COMPLETE!! YAY!!

broke L345
I have finally finished my replica of my 1980 Torker MX I owned as a 12 year old. I was riding at my local track and hiring old Madison’s for $5.00 per hour for a year until I was lucky enough to have this rock up on my doorstep. I raced this bike for a couple of years and it had many reincarnations, down the track it got DX cranks then to profiles, 7X’s with Hutch magnesium hubs and GT bars, DX lever with MX1000 brakes. But when I remember back, this is how it impressed me most.

I got lucky with a lot of parts recreating this bike, the Haro plate for example. Although I am happy with it the way it is, I still need a CB seat post and comp II tires to finish it off.

I loved this bike and my favorite trick was to go down one of our main streets standing on the twin bars with the seat between my ankles and “surfing” all the way down the hill. As I went to take the pictures for this the front tire rolled off the tuffs and blew out, Lucky that didn’t happen back then.

I hope you guys like the job done here and I would welcome any comments, good or bad. The last picture is of my whole lot 80 Torker, 82 Torker, 79 or so DG.

THANKS FOR LOOKING

thank you all,

What can I say other than, Torkers rule!!!! Now that I have two, I am complete as an OS collector. Here's my 82. The only other thing I would try to get now is something more historically important. I would love to restore a Clint Miller Torker if I could find one, I think that would be my holly grail of BMX. 5 was my lucky number.

Thanks again!

Looking good Broke. Still not sure about the seat post but if it's what you had then I understand. I think there might be one floating around the 'bay at the moment.
