This past weekend, I toughed it out and went to a dinner featuring all of the people who help out at our track. I was feeling pretty miserable with a monster sinus infection. Towards the end, the track director pulled me aside and gave me a "gift" that totally blew my mind:
I still have to take pics, but it was two pristine (and still in original shrink plastic) Mongoose Pro Class 24x1.75 hoops. Check this out though- these things are original, and anodized in the dark gray color. Included were original rimstrips in the box (with a faded mongoose sku sticker)- one side was blue, and the other was red.
I truly didn't know what to say. I felt like I was in outer space anyway from the meds that I was on, but it really floored me.
Just how rare are these things? I know they're rare, but I'd never seen the hard ano'ed dark gray ones before.

The annod' ones sound like the Pro Class III. I they started as an option on the Californian model in like 84 or so. Then they were on all of the 86 models. Or at least the californian models.
There is a set of the 20" Pro class III's on the bay right now.

I do, if I go in my basement!
I believe the Pro Class III hard anno's came out in `85, maybe even late `84, and only on the higher end bikes.
I'll take a pic of them when I get a second. Can't wait to build them up. Are the new/old bullseye hubs still floating around? I seem to remember someone selling a bunch of brand new ones not too long back. Those would be a killer match for these hoops.
