This CW is 1 of 2 frames, and 1 fork ever built. Built by a friend of mine by the name of Allen Lane who raced for Roger Worsham who owned CW at the time. Some on you old pros might remember him? He said that he raced for CW for about 3-4 months time only strictly for GPV racing. The 2 frames & 1 fork were given to me back in 1990 or '91? This particular one, doesn't not have a serial # on it. The second frame was stamped "A.L.2" on the rear drop-out. So this one must be the "A.L.1" Sadly to say the "A.L.2" is long gone. I had given to an aquaintance who was suppose to do a little bit of work on it for me, but guy ended up getting killed in an auto accident in NM enroute to a freestyle contest back in early 90's, and the frame never to be seen again. Last I heard of it was that it was cannibalized to be used for certain projects that his older brother had.

When I received this frame, it was given to me in bare metal from. Stripped! I had powdercoated soon afterwards in black/white, and had it put together to ride when I first moved here in San Diego back in '91. I rode it around town for a good 3 years until I lost interest in it. There it was hung in the garage rafter, neglected until a few months ago. I got the inkling of getting it back together again and start riding again.

This particular frame may have been raced a couple times. My friend told me that this was the one he crashed on at 60 mph, breaking his collarbone coming down on a race in Big Bear. Ouch!!!

Anyway, here are some photos and frame dimensions. Feel free to fire off some questions about it. I'll do my best to answer them.

Cheers!!

I think this frame was based on the CW Pro Racer w/ a few noticeable changes.

A.L. 1 frame geometry. The front and rear triangle was made to be a little longer to keep it more stable at high speed. The only thing I was told about the A.L. 2 was it had about 1 or 2 degrees more rake on the head tube for stability. Both frames were pretty much the same.

Top Tube=20.25"
Seat Tube=10.5"
Chainstay=15.5"
BB Height=12.0"

Head Tube Angle=?? (I don't know exactly, but the ST angle looks to be the same).

Double dropouts on frame & fork.

The goofball on my left, driving is the one responsible for this geometric bungle. On our way to the Glen Helen Outdoor National '06.

Allen Lane & Jeremy. Glen Helen '06

Set-up in a similar way as these 2 on the cover of BMXA, except when this one was raced, weights were put in place where the cranks were, and banana seat was used.

Here's a few more.

Notice the drilled dropout on right fork leg for computer sensor mount?

I have seen a black painted version of that frame on this site perhaps one month ago give or take.

As for you bike, very clean and well detailed.

I re read your post about the AL1 and 2. I am confident the guy who has it listed that in the post. His post dealt with could anybody ID his frame. I responded that it was a GPV frame, I could tell because of the seat post cut and the finished nature of the BB shell.

Frame was black with a light yellow? inside the BB shell.
KuwaharaRider
That was me, Curt.

I had the inside of the seat tube, head tube, & BB shell taped to remind the powdercoater to not paint those areas.

Here's what the previous color(s) looked like.
