The DG I bought, I just took apart. After cleaning much of the gunk I see its a Stronglight P headset.
I never heard of them before, as I always just bought Tioga or let the bike shop put on whatever.

Is it worth restoring. Its near perfect but one or two parts of the chrome have flaked off. So I'll have to rechrome it. Is it worth it?

It is the STOCK headset that came with your frame. It's a road bike headset. Use it and don't rechome anythign. Check the restore threads out.

They also came with a Stronglight BB.

What a find!

BTW - Tioga will split the head tube open as it's a larger diameter.

dang! don't see many DGs with the original Stronglight components. that was a Stevie Skibel innovation.

press it back in and be happy you got it.

Do not re-chrome that thing. If you want a mint DG I've got a blue complete I'll be happy to trade you for that one.

Old French Company...When you couldn't afford Campy, Stronglight was the next best thing back in the day, had the cranks on a Patterson in '79-80 with Reedy's and never bent the cranks, bent the pedals though...good stuff for Roadbikes and Bmx, do a search online for more info..
