Full Version: Champion Owners Registry

Seeing the Nomura and Looptail Quad threads got me thinking about bike registries again. I had this fantasy a few years ago about a huge registry "data bank" for all vintage BMX bikes. I know the guys here (Bill, Hal, Rick, etc.) have their hands full already and I don't even know where to begin a project of that magnitude. Of course, something like that may already exist. So, I figure I'll just start simple, and follow the lead of a couple of vbmx members and go with a single manufacturer. I have a few Champions and I've noticed some inconsistenies in the serial numbers. I've asked on this site before if there's some sort of "code," but the only consesus has been that the history of Champion is confusing enough without even knowing if there is a code or not. Not only do the number of digits differ, but some have the letter "C" in them, some say "Champion USA," some say "Champion" and some are listed parallel to the spindle and some perpendicular. All of mine are post-Schwerma and have the serial on the bottom bracket.
Here we go:

20": 11005 "Champion" (parallel)

24": C011581 "Champion" (perpendicular)

24": C213655 "Champion USA" (perpendicular)

24": C213551 "Champion USA" (parallel)

26": 11314 "Champion" (parallel)

26": 11430 "Champion" (parallel)

Please add what you can to this list. I think it's great to have as many of these in one place as possible. I also think it's cool to know how many of them are still creeping around this place.
I encourage others with similar passions for particular bikes to start simliar threads.
Have a great day.

I have 2 Schwerma Champs, frame # 187 and frame# either 17 or 171, someone filed the number long before I owned it. I also know where frame # 189 is.
TIM
