Anyone ever heard of a company called "GBJ"????
26BMX
Purportedly something to do with A-1 Locksmith 26" Cruisers from Austin, Tejas from several sources something to do with possibly the welder.

I recall a A-1 or Cothrons, almost positive it was A-1, from 81-82' that there was a limited run of 25 by a BMX'ers Dad that was outsourced to either CW, Blazer or Rebel. My memory says CW. Cannot recall the racer, Jenson, Hayes... Connected to A-1 or Cothrons.

I have been told A-1 was a offshoot of Cothrons but I do not believe that to be the case.

The J in the initial could be Jenson, but I believe A-1 was Hayes dad so that would have been Blazer/Rebel, unless they too were made by CW BITD.

Cheers
Cliff

blazer and rebel were two seperate companies, neither made by cw. blazers were made in lufkin and rebels in san antonio.

The A-1 frames were made in SanAntonio......that would make them Rebel(?).A dude named Jesse(?) welded them.

I was there and remember Blazer and Rebel were seperate entities.

What is in question are the two models of the 26" A-1 Cruisers; the early 81' run of 25 OS Style that I believe were "possibly made by CW" and the later 93-97' models definately simply made.

I have pics of several of the 90's model. I own one and so does my adjacent neighbor. His was purchased new in 97-98' and was supposed to be one of the last. Mine is earlier supposedly pre-95'.

They had a tight rear triangle 26x1.75 MAX unless it was at 18" respectably center of crank to center of rear hub.

I run a Kenda KRad 26x1.95 but it is at the end of the rear dropout to keep from rubbing.

Much cooler with slimmer street tires or preferably OS Comp III 26x1.75 but the latter is a a little to pricey for this unless Mitsubishi/Tioga frees up the mold rights to someone like what has been discussed the last 2 years. Definately money to be made!

Canti brakes with a posi stop welded in and 1" threaded headset that came with unpolished drops on the repro Torker forks.

I like the 90's 26" but would like someone that remembers better than I about the 81' version, " if I am not mistaken on that one" that is the one that might have been outsourced to CW. Maybe Eddie Siegmund might recall... Eddie?

I just did an ohaul last week on one of those bikes for a friend of atxbmx. It must have been one of the 90's models cuz it had cantis. Hey styler, is your phone broke? Cliff, gimme a call.

jesse welded the titan frames, and esp. he still goes into action bikes from time to time. the rebels were welded by a czeck {or some eastern block} guy who escaped communist oppression -across the alps into germany and somehow ended up in SA. true story.

The dark picture with Light Blue Grips is Felecia's daily rider.

The one being held in hand is my next door neighbors.

A-1 Bike Smith 26" BMX Cruiser(s)

I have NEVER seen a tighter rear triangle on ANY 26" BMX cruiser. A 26x1.75 would rock the track on this Cruiser! All the way to the rear of the dropout is 18" center of crank to center of axle.I mean ALL THE WAY.

She loves the way it rides. Likes it better than her two four
