Was this Webco considered a high-end bike when it was new?

The frame is cool, but the reason for the high money is the wheels

Thanks for the replies, but I think I should have worded the question more clearly. I understand why it went so high on eBay (that's obvious), but I'm just curious if this was considered a "high-end" or "mid-level" or "low-end" bike when it was brand new.

They made entry level bke along with mid grade and pro models. The components varied some from model to model. They were not on the seen for very long in the BMX timeline and there very few numbers make them that more valuable. The replica frame was and still is by design a very durable frame. The low end Thrasher series was a good starter frame for any youngster that wanted to get big air and still have a frame in one piece. The curb jumper offered the same frame with better components and still the expert made with a chromolly frame offered even more performance for the serious racer. The only downside to them were that never offered up a longer top tupe model for the older more advanced riders. This I think became there downfall and marked the end for them. These frames are my favorite of all! WEBCOS RULE!
