i take it the gate works. did anything fall off? does the tread plate need more traction?

Jason Chang

JT thanks for coming out and supporting the bmxers on our first race! I was at bikefactory today and Duane had the first race finals playing on loop. Got me pumped up! Remember BITD when we would all come to Safari Cyles the monday after a race to watch the previous days video?

I ordered my wifes wheelset today from Duane. While I was there I spied someone's 24 wheelset hanging there for pickup. Pretty tasty setup with blue profile hubs - rumored to be an OGers! Hmmmmmmmm wink.gif

JK,

Yep, a lot of good memories. It was a blast listening to all of the "kids" razing each other. It's amazing that the old BetaMax and that TV in the store survived that long. Good to hear that you got pumped watching the video...just like BITD :-))

Lots of fun for sure! My favorite part was finally seeing another childhood buddy! Jeff Wandell.....Hopefully, he will get on the track soon with his S&M 24". Rory was there too and I bugged him about riding too. At least his answer isn't "No Way" anymore. smile.gif

JK and Jeff Wandell

Jason Chang
ah man I missed Jeff. What about Rockne, kata, P nut, and I know a bunch more that were posting about their new bikes. Moki and Miki. Jeez who else, we need to get word to them. I heard we may have Keith Horikawa and kevin Mokuahi out soon too. Would be cool for a big turn out for the Redline cup, and a chance to win a custom painted redline frame. Right there I named 8 guys, add that to what we have now and its gonna get real fun.

KLAUS, lane 4 fell off, rivets and glue failed. get with me and I hope we can fix it before next Sun. Might have to beef up the others too.

Went to the races with my youngest boy this past Sunday.

Hey Rory,
I kept hearing the Ingano name over the PA System in the lead as the gate dropped. Gave me chicken skin to hear that on the PA System. Had some flashbacks of the old days.

Can't wait to see what happens again on the track this Sunday.
Jeremy K.
Was great to see Jeff Wandell out riding the track on his S&M 24 today! He came out with his friend Jason who was riding a 26 SE Floval Flyer. Jeff said they had a lot of fun and will be back! Now if we can only get Rory and Kata to come out and play! I would love to see Jeff, Rory, and Kata racing each other like the "old days".

After checking out the races on Sunday we had to get out and try a real track. Back in the day I think more of us would have keep going if we had anthing close, real burms, whoops and jumps. SWEEEET!!

It was a blast but man am I feeling it this morning!! wacko.gif

Come on all you old farts biggrin.gif

JW
HA Y N
BA gave us (Brad and I at the ABA) the a-okay to head over to Sand Box to help out with the Redline Cup. Then Brad mentioned that we still have a track seminar in Minnesota to get done. Wouldn't you know it, it falls on the same weekend. So now I'm packing for -5 degree weather rather than being home helping to run a Redline Cup. Oh well, soon enough we will make it there for a race. Maybe the State Finals?

I got my Copy! Thank You JT!

If you guys raced on Feb 14th then you gotta pick one up! You can get it at the Sandbox track during sign ups. JT put a lot of time and effort into this - All to support the BMX Racers. Its $15 dollars and proceeds go to the Sandbox track. How can you beat that? Its not a home video either - its professionally done. I saw it playing at bikefactory and had to get a copy!

Thanks again JT for supporting the bmx community!

I'm an old fut, there's a difference. hehe When I was waiting for the first moto to go, my son Royce was in it, I was teaching him how to handle pressure by yelling NO PRESSURE! hehe Anyway this guy on a moped said he heard me laugh, lo and behold it was Dino Pacheco. We talked through the whole first and second motos. He said he still has his race webco expert from back in the day! Jeremy, when Dino comes out then I'll come out. biggrin.gif

Yo BU, you are right in there. Here's mine.
cruiser 20 inch
HB 36 --- HB 34 3/4
BB 12 --- BB 11 1/4
24 inches ride height--- 23 1/2 inches ride height

For me, my 20 inch feels a little better so I am going to bring down the bars on my cruiser by 1/2 inch. I am a little taller than you so I think you should aim for a ride height of 23 inches. Which is what your 20 inch is, does your 20 feel better than your cruiser as far as power when you pull up? Like off the gate? If the front feels heavy, first try making the rear as short as you can. On some of my bikes, I have ground out the drop out deeper to move the axle in a little more.

Changstar
Jason Chang
So how old are you guys? Rory, Kata, Dino, Nial, Rodger? Do you all fall into the 46-50 cruiser, if so you guys would have your own class right there. By the way, we all need keep buggin Rockne till he comes out. Jk how did you get him to ride HK? If you can do it one more time at the track maybe he will get the fever to ride more. Cool thing about cruiser is that guys that you would not have raced back in the day cause of being different ages, now would race each other. Riders that were 10X and 15X now get lumped together.

I'm not sure how to get him out there. The Weds and Sun times conflict with his work schedule.

I think JWandell mentioned that he is 48. I think Rory is 48 also. I was talking to JW on Weds about it. If he and Russell came out to race they would have a class with Jim Drake. I'm stoked to see JW riding the track. Nothing like seeing an OG tearing it up!

COME ON RORY! What are you waiting for? Malvert?

changstar,

tried a lower stem today: 35.5 HB and the front came heavy. then changed the stem to a little taller one: 36 HB and felt pretty good. only the legs weren't as good today. so I think i'll leave it there. maybe I should slam the rear end and go back to the lower stem? LMK... jk spanked us again and big jim was on his game today...

Jason Rory and I are 48. I will need more time on the 24 so I can make it around the track without my heart jumping out of my chest

You guys remember Factory Team Jag rider from Hawaii - Troy Sadaoka? I wonder what he is up to in his adult life?

jk
Jason Chang
Wow I never knew about that guy. When I first started in 1978, I had heard about a guy from Mililani that was on factory SE. I forget his name, and he had stopped racing about the same year. Anybody know if there is any truth to this? Or at least know of a fast guy from Mililani that rode a SE. Being from Mililani I think the fastest guy or most well known BITD was Rick Takashita. I do remember a top ten plate back then, I think his name was Kenny Draves. Not sure if any other fast guys were from my neighborhood from 1977-80.

Yep I remember Troy, he use to hang and ride with Bike Shop guys quite a bit. I think he gave up the bike for surf. Good kid.

We're hosting the 5th Annual Streets Of Madness BMX video contest this weekend. The deal is we get teams of 3-5 riders together and meet up at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park at 8:00am on Saturday. From there you have 36 hours to ride, film, edit and deliver your DVD to Hooters at 8:00pm the next night. There we'll watch the videos and give out prizes. Everyone is more than welcome to attend even if you didn't compete. It's a good time and everyone get's to watch some local talent. And the videos are good too. Sorry. Anyways, if you're interested or have questions, just let me know. Duane@shootsbrah.com

I guess the economy is picking up. The UPS driver was delivering packages until 10:00pm last night when he knocked on my door with a box from Atomlab. I thought it was going to the shop but I'm not complaining. It's good to see that those with money are still spending money. That's the only stimulus we need.
Jason Chang
Hope weather is OK, I might get on the gate today.

Changstar
Jason Chang
Yep got on the gate, for practice anyways. Second gate I went early and tagged it, instant over the bars. Next gate much better and went to lean back and pedal down the back side of the first jump. Disaster, my front wheel dropped and stuck, like hitting the front brakes hard. Over the bars again. Man I forgot how it feels to get slammed again, but I knew a crash would happen sooner or later and maybe it is out of my system for a while.

Changstar
rydah
what gearing do most of the cruiser guys use.
AriMclaren
Good question I got a 41/17 seems to have good top end speed.
