I thought something was up with that Jag when I saw what looked like an old style fork but a clamp on stem. Looks like you got the best of both worlds with that bike. We have come a long ways from off the shelf bikes to fully custom rides, sooo trick.

Holy Cr_p my computer crashed! You don't realize how addicted you are to this site until you can't check it out for a few days or so. I'm on my wifes laptop right now.........FBOMB!!!!!!
Anyways....Changstar here are the specs that I can remember off hand:
20.75 top tube
74 degree steerer
72 degree seat tube
14.5 - 15.5 chainstay.
The 20 JagRetro and the Badd cruiser don't feel alike to me. I have to change a few things to get them more similar. One thing that throws me off is that the Badd has 177 cranks and the jag has 175's. Seems like a small difference but you can really feel it. I am thinking of going with a shorter stem. Probably a SNAP. Not sure on the length. Any advice there? I thought the Slam bars and the S&M Cruiser bars would feel similar but they feel really different to me.
I got a chance to ride BU's S&M on SAT and I gotta admit I am loving the feel of the big back tire on his. His S&M felt DIALED! BU was knocking some tables with ease. Man how do you guys do it? I still am trying to find my Mojo......

was wondering where you went... mine crashed about 2 months ago and was a b*tch to get everything up to par again. I'll be building a 38 special slowly (you know how that goes). Duane is checking with S&M if they can make a cruiser slam with the same bends as the regular slam bars. I hope the bike feels almost the same as the 20". I gotta learn how to launch farther so at least I can land on the downside of the jumps...

Lots of measuring will get your bikes close. Main things are BB to handlebars. You want the same rise and length distance from your feet to your hands. If you need more detail let me know.
Changstar
Jeremy K.
May 27 2009, 12:28 PM
BU,
That would help alot to have the bars with the same bend. You are one step in front of me in dialing things in. I think you can hit the back side of the landings pretty easy with your skills. Hell, if you can table off that little jump I am looking forward to seeing you hit the outside line. I tried the outside line yesterday - just the first jump. I wasn't making the backside. I just gotta sac up and hit it faster. Let me know when you guys hit HK again!
Chanstar,
I'll measure things up tomorrow and try and figure out whats making the bikes feel different.

so does that mean you measure from your BB spindle to your handlebar ends. if I'm wrong, please explain how to make a 24 feel as close to my 20...

OK, for bar height set your bike straight up and down and measure how high your bars at the grip ends are from the ground. Then measure your BB height. Then minus the BB from the bar height. This will give you your riding area so that the height will be close as possible, adjust the height with the washers under your stem to make both bikes the same. For length measure from the bar ends to BB, make sure front tire points straight ahead. If these are the same on both bikes then that is as close as you can get. Some things that may make bikes feel different are:
Headtube angle, slower or faster steering will change up the feel
Seat tube angle, only when sitting down will you feel a difference.
BB height, lower BB will be easier to lift the first foot (12 inches) of tire off the ground. Higher BB will be harder to lift the first foot but after up over a foot it gets lighter.
BB to rear axle, shorter is lighter front. I set my cruiser as short as possible, bigger wheels and higher axle makes it harder to pull up front. I set my 20 with rear axle about mid drop out or 15 inches.
It is harder to go from cruiser to 20 than 20 to cruiser. Most racers that ride both never ride their cruiser other than to race. All practice and training is done on 20. I mostly ride cruiser just cause it is a easier bike to ride and much more stable IE safer and less crashing. For long far jumps the cruiser rules. For tech stuff and tight riding the 20 is tops. You will never get any 2 bikes the same even if it were two 20 inchers, or two cruisers. But you can get close enough so that you can adjust to it quickly. I would say for just getting back into it ride the cruiser, but to fine tune and really get your skill on it's got to be on the 20. If you really want a challenge try it all on a 16 incher. Big dubs and all.

Thanks for the props guys. I 'll give it my best shot...............When the time comes. Strange how one guy can trash talk for other people, I wonder if the other teamates even know about all this talk. I prefer to let my on track riding speak for itself. And then if I or any of us other old schoolers played the talk game we will have those that take it to seriously and make us out to be jerks. The old saying "when the gate drops, the bull stops" Also funny is that I just talked to Bully, he is very down to earth and taken a more realistic view of it all. To me it will be starting over again for everybody. Past glory is just that, in the past. Tracks have changed, bikes have changed, skill and technique is changed. The only thing the same is hard work and determination. Gotta watch those quiet guys too, like Klaus and Rock. You know somebody is going to be doin those uphill sprints and come out swinging when the track opens. I am fully prepared to have my arse handed to me, but give me some time to work on it and I am sure I am not the only one who will check it out then get to work and things will be a lot different after a few months. By the way, how do you get a sponsor for racing when there is no racing? Or is it just for being handsome.

I just want to have fun with some old friends and new ones. There were times racing where I took things too seriously. I'm not saying I am not going to put in some work to get back in shape. But, if the track does become a reality I'll be there having fun and helping with the track. Bummer that a few guys are sporting the my dick is bigger than your dick attitude already.

Nothing wrong with being serious. I just keep it between the gate and the finishline. Once I cross the finishline, it's done and fun. You gotta admit riding is fun but winning is a little more fun. We all have a competitive spirit. Racing in the blood, and while I will never be mad at not winning, I do hope to get a first. Somehow it wouldn't be fun if everone went around the track only trying 80%, that would be more like practice. I like pushing the limit, a little faster and I might crash, a little slower and I will lose, what to do? thats the fun. If you need a little more speed we can always add some dancing slippers. In the distance we can hear "Oh yeah! My bike is lighter than yours"

I have thought about Graphites for a 20, light enough and strong. Plus has a old school look. Hey RusT, you should bust out a Redline and put your Graphites on it like the 80's.

I'll see if I can make it Sunday. For tire pressure, check the side wall of your tire for a guide. For street stuff it's real high like 70-100 lbs. For dirt softer like 40-70. Try to run as high as possible, it rolls a lot faster and less chance of a pinch flat. If it feels funny, slowly add air and ride till you get used to it. Like maybe start at 40 lbs and ride a few days, then go to 50 lbs and ride a few days and so on till 60-70 or so.
