P,

Oh no........YOU GAVE RUSSELL YOUR NUMBER!!!!!........Good luck with that! sarcastic_hand.gif

Congrats on the Shadow Conspiracy! Or I should say congrats to us for finally getting you back on the dirt. Man good things are about to happen aren't they!!!!!! BU, Rust, Kevlau, Changstar, P so when you guys riding?

Hey JT.....thats some funny stuff with the parachute. Thanks for the link I enjoyed poking around on that site. Good stuff. I remember at HRP drags they used to have a foot race everynow and then for kicks. The guys had to run down the 1/4 mile and back around the whole return road to the tower. Was a fun break in the drags watching everyone gas out running the track.

JEFF! MY MAN! Come join us with a 24!!!!! Thanks for sharing that pic. Gives me butterflies remembering being on that gate waiting for the moto in fron of you to finish. Because you knew you were on in a few seconds. Great times no? Is that you no 820? Funny I can only remember you wearing the TBS colors.

jk

LOL .. ya Russell is da man, too bad i mostly cannot call him back because I am doing many things at once, almost all the time.. 2 jobs and then stuff I am doing at home, just trying to manage life.. banging away on a keyboard through internet boards or email is best for me, I can type, dash away, do stuff, come back.. type some more.. <repeat-wash-rinse>

Did some small tweaks to it, adjusting for my size, great bike! .. I was having a blast early this morning.. except now I still have that flat tire, I don't have a floor pump with a schreder valve, only presta for my road bike valves LOL .. dang it! .. well Bike Shop, here I come.. instead of patching the tube (which I'll do anyways) with no spare, I figure to buy 2 new tubes.. do I just look for "24 tubes"? Like for road, you get 700s or 650s, then decide on thickness/material..

Jeff, heal up quick and get that CR24, come join us .. I am like a total beginner again LOL .. so fun!

I gotta get my 24 tire fixed, hope to do that part right after work.. get ready for Saturday..

Hey Bone, Rust808, Changstar, JK, everyone -- what about Saturday? Nothing serious, just tool around town, check out the beach, the sights.. for me.. get used to the bike.. where can we meet, like at Bike Fack on Ala Moana blvd, or what??

Let's do this on a curb:

Small Kine .. haha

Yeah 24X1.75 or 1.5 tubes. Any wider and it will be stuffed in there with wrinkles. Stay away from light weight tubes unless you at the track, they puncture easy. They do make thicker tubes that are more heavy duty and just plain heavy. Most of the time I see flat due to underinflation and then a pinch flat. Now days I would not go less than 45 PSI, old days 35 was normal. Racers and jumpers are runnin way up like 80-100. Zero cushion but very fast rolling and no pinch flats. Check side of tire to see what is recomended, and usually it is safe to push it 10-20 lbs over. Long time ago Comp III sidewall said 35psi, we all ran about 50. Learned this when I would be leading and then get passed by guys on the long fast straight, had E Rupe ride my bike and see if anything felt wrong. He came back and said " how can you go fast with your tires so soft?" Pumped them up to 55 and won the next two motos. It is many times those small things that make a difference.

Changstar
Jeremy K.
Wow Changstar that is way more tech than I was back then. I never checked my tire pressure once. If it felt low I would go to the 76 and fill it up sqeeze the tire with my hand for the right pressure. Or what I thought was good pressure. Now I actually have a pump with a guage. I'm slowly catching on. I have been running my Holy Rollers at 50lbs. Took a while for me to get used to that.

jk
Jason Chang
Yeah it does feel scary slippery at first, but then you get used to it and can never go back. Also teaches you to land smooth, cause when you don't you will feel it hard. For general riding around I go about 50 too, at the track about 65. I trust the tire design for grip rather than just making the tire softer.

Those are cool, are they pretty strong? Will a strong gust of wind blow the bike over and crack the PVC? Maybe add a little color to the PVC, trick it out a little. Some flame grafics or team stickers. I think I will look into making a few, so far I just have bikes piled on each other all over the garage, can't even walk through my garage. Then I have a bunch of boxes with parts, don't even remember what I have any more. One day I have to sort and organize my stuff and see what I got.

changstar,

need some advice, rode james's 38 special today and felt nice, but was wondering if I shorten the TT to 20.5 from 21.5 and leave the rear at 14.75 would it make it easier to lift the front? also is 73 degree HT twitchier than 74.5?

Guess who rode today,

perfectnut!

We did the McCully to Ala Moana beach, Kakaako beach, bikefactory, downtown/ Aala park, back to Ala Mo's and Waikiki beach run. Man, my legs are tired. P's bike is killer, feels good for hopping and jumping. He could use taller gears, he was spinning like a madman. smile.gif Really nice day for a ride, beaches were packed w/ Easter picnicers, and a little overcast. Plan for next weekend, most likely Saturday.

Hey, I know somewhere in the 122 pages of this post you guys were taking about a track being built but tied up in red tape. What is the status at this point? Thinking about bring my boy out to ride it and trying to convince the wife to let us stay forever :sun_bespectacled

Word on the street is the track building is stalled for now, something about EPA complaining. I could be wrong, but that's what I heard. You could always just ride the beaches and trails w/ the locals. smile.gif

Yes, that one inch shorter front will help a ton, and still a lot longer than the old days. My guess your old Profile was 20 or less and had slow steering about 71 degrees.
73 is less twitchy, higher number is more straight up and down, lower number like 69 is more chopper. Skinnier front tire will also make it more twitchy, but on a cruiser I don't like big fat tires, it feels to heavy and slow steering. On a 20 it feels OK to have a fat front tire like a 2.125. But on a track you can go skinnier cause it is so smooth. The reason we had big front tires BITD was to roll over bumps better and to have more traction in loose dirt. Since todays track don't have bumps or loose dirt we don't need them anymore. Skinny tires also roll a lot faster, ask P about it with his road bike.
