Going by the Oz-certified date of July 10th, 1969 - when the first ever BMX race was held in Palms Park -- has everyone (anyone?) began thinking of how the BMX communiity should celebrate our sports 40th Anniversary?!

FRIDAY - July 10th, 2009 - our favorite sport officially turns FORTY.

right O... I think so?

That TA looks awesome!!!! Would never have thought that was the same frame as before. Where did you get the stickers? You still got the graphites for it? Give us a run down on how the set up will be. can't wait to see it done. BU, Slam bars should be the last bars you ever have to get, as long as you keep the rust away they are bullet proof and have a perfect bend.

Rust,

Whats the scoop on the frame.

How much was it to get powdered?
How long did it take?
Did you have to prep it at all?
Do they do custom colors, candies etc?

Thanks,

jk

Jason Chang
Ahhhh, layed back post or DX, you said both.

howzit changstar,
amazing what a little bend in the bars can feel like... what kind of tires are you guys using to race nowdays? so far I only seen comp III's...

BU
Jason Chang
Right now on IRC Sirens, but nowadays they going to more of a street type tire or small knobby like the Micro knobby or Holly Rollers. Comp III is now what come on stock out of the box bikes and are changed soon after. A lot depends on the place you ride, if it is smooth and packed then the newer style is good. If it is loose and not packed in then the old Comp III or Sirens work well.

JK, the cost for f/f was $87.96.
dropped off thurs. got it back following tues, about 3 work days.
all they want for prep is grease and oil removal. not perfectly clean, but enogh not to taint the sand-blast beads. that's the only prep I did.
almost any color, gloss/ flat/ textured. multi-colors are a little bit more $.
can't recall seeing candied colors, but call them, they can answer you questions no problem.

Wait a minute,I'm top 5 in posting? That means I'm better at posting than I ever was at racing. That sucks!!

Yeah the modern computer age has made us all good at this tech stuff, now we gotta try extra hard to get the kids outside for some old fashioned fun like we had.

Back on tires, Tioga has a new one and wants to be back on top like the Comp III era. Smoother low profile knobs, heard a lot of good about them and they should be out this month.

CAPTAIN CAAAAVEMAAAANNNN!!!
Jason Chang
Yeah, was hard for me to get away from a good ole radical knobby. But once you try them and feel how much faster it is you will think knobby's feel slow like not enough air in them. Guys are are runnin about twice the pressure now a days. Very common to have 80-100 lbs in there. That makes them feel even faster.

Changstar
Jeremy K.
If our new track is nice in groomed will be great to use the NS tires. But, I'm reluctant to run them yet. Rock is running a micro knobbie on the back and I seen the carnage it caused at HK. By the way whats the dealio on our track? Anyone hear anything current?

jk
BONE808
QUOTE (Jason Chang @ Jan 30 2009, 05:07 PM) *

so I guess the track will be hard pack? doesn't look like it will be too good in soft stuff... or am I wrong? also looks good for street riding.

Hey, BMXers...guess who this old school legend is. smile.gif
http://i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu190/r...08/DSC00567.jpg
Jason Chang
The WORM. Someone got to get him on here.

Changstar
Jason Chang
Yeah for HK or most of the local spots I would use a knobby. The race track is totaly different. Very hard packed, like concrete. Imagine racing around one of our skateparks, jumping and railing the bowls like berms. Thats what most tracks are like. So a knobby actually gives you less traction. Due to less rubber on the ground.

Is it me, or does Worm make the bike look long and big? Not a reference to the HO thing. Damn if he didn't whip it into a good Leary. What he lacked in power he made up for in skill, he would have done well on the new days techno tracks. I can imagine him out smoothing a power guy like me just plowing through.

here's one i found waiting to be thrown away in the kaimuki area. it had hutch race bars too. thinking of making it like rus808's. not sure though, since all the re-pros are only going to be white. anyone know of a chrome plater?
