BU,

Thanks.

Actually the hike makes it hard to ride after. The legs are all wobbly. But, someone told me I don't really ride anyway all I do is roll down the hill and jump. So thats not really riding I guess? laugh.gif

jk

It's the air that counts, not how you get there. Besides is it more BMXish to pedal around and jump 4 inches high and try to get sideways? I know BMXers that do that in their first month riding.

I think I remember one of the town guys had a polished DX post, I thought that was soooo trick. I would say today that is a $200 chair post. Those were awesome for cruiser, I ran my seat to high on 20 for that post.
More pics guys, I love um.

That bike looks like it has seen some action. Time to get a simpler basic race type bike. You know, without the pegs and Gyro and front brake. Just plain O BMX.

I agree, this bike is pretty much retired. I'm keeping my eye out for a new workhorse.

anyone know where I can get this printed? old 110 negative.

Howzzit BoneU-

I had my 110 negatives developed at Outrigger Photo in Waikiki, on Kuhio Ave. It was tougher than I thought finding a place that can develop those sizes, even Longs on King did not or could not.

Check it out here: http://www.photofinishingretail.com/outrig...wer-photo/4519/

Hope that link does it..

Here is a really OLD pic (PNUT is panic-stricken) from the Campbells race track, with Raymond "Whale" Motosue's hands in my face.. whatever happend to that guy??

Thats before, 107 years, 2 million cocktails, 36 states, 29 personalities, 49 heartbreaks, 119 bicycles, 17,203,902,129,304 photographs later..

And through all of that you can still put in all those miles on the road, just saving up those dirt riding skills for the great return. Nothing replaces that launch off the lip and then soaring through air, then the light as a feather landing. All of which I miss and have not found again yet. Hahaha, working on it though.

Oxalic acid, also know as wood bleach. Last I looked I could not find it, but JK says it is in Hardware stores now. On this site check out restoration section, they tell how and what to use for different parts.

Totally awesome! and the weird thing was on the stream of music i was listening to...it played the classic by Paul Anka, Times of Your Life...how weird was that? Anyways..cool thread...

Here is one for the ages...one of the few trophies I kept, since it has some special meaning/sense of accomplishment! Just thought you guys would have fun figuring out who this is...

Awesome you found us. We need a bigger hint. Well maybe not. I know somebody here has the results from that race. But for me, not a clue yet. But 3rd in pro means you were real fast.

I'm not sure. You said you looked thru all the pages on the Hawaiian thread. So you gotta be a local transplant going by your screen name. But, the pro 3rd places are Mainland pro's - unless I am looking at the wrong clipping.

So I am guessing its 2nd Gear.........

jk
Jason Chang
So it could be Scott or Tinker, both have ties to Hawaii, so maybe.

Changstar
Jeremy K.
But, why would Clark or Tinker read thru the whole thread? I'm confused? huh.gif

I'll still guess with 2nd Gear Iha.

Are you Scott Iha? If it is glad to see you on this site. Are you still living on the islands? or on the mainland?

I do not think it is Scott Clark or Tinker Juarez. Mainly due to livealoha states he spent many hours reading the post and pictures. He also related that it brought back many memories. livealoha can only be a racer that has raced in the islands in the time that most of us raced at Cambells / Castle Park / Keehi Lagoon . I to when I first discovered this site spent hours reading the endless posts made by the community of this site and it brought back great memories of my past.

I stand corrected . What's up Mr. Stuart Saito,

Yes, you were a part of this islands history in BMX. I am glad to see you on this site. I had some pictures posted of you on this site and I hope it brought back some good memories. I can only hope that you also have pictures of the races at Cambells. I guess you can also contact your former sponsor and get some DVDs from his collection.

I figured it out by looking at the cruiser class. Stuart Saito took third and I googled his name. His business came up and on that site he had livealoha. Also only a person that raced during the era we raced would spend hours looking at every page reflecting the good times he had back in the day. Like I wrote I did that when I first found this site. Now I check this site everyday to see what is posted and to see if any former racers come on this site.

bmxjoe,

That is just INSANE! I don't think I have the stones to try something like that. Well, maybe more down the road. OK, I have wondered for a while. How do you set something like that up? Can you do standing back flips (without the bike)? I am trying to wrap my brain around the whole thing. Its a move that I am guessing you cant ease into - you gotta just commit. Give us your thoughts on it.

Glad to see your first pic after 8 yrs is in the Hawaiian thread. Please keep the pics coming. It gets me fired up to see one of us killing it!

Ok Jeremy you asked so here we go!
Scoot breakdown...

08 Eastern Grim Reaper Frame with Eastern Slit fork in Chrome . w/Eastern Headset
Old school Haro Kneesaver 4pcs bars.
Odyssey Elementary v2 stem polished w/titanium bolt
Peregrine brake levers
Peregrine front brake
Fly rear brake
Snafu mobeus gyro,Snafu Astroglide dual upper cables in white with Odyssey london mod, white slick dual cables. Cable guides
Demolition white brake pads
Ame grips white
DK Goal post aluminum
Specialized Road bike seat
Shadow Half link chain
Primo Balance rims 36h B/F with titanium spokes.
Front Profile SS 14mm with titanium axle
Back is KHE Geisha light 9t freecoaster modified for less slack/w G-Sport Gland Mk3 hub protector
Failure plastic pegs on the right and G-Sport Plegs on the left. run all 4 pegs
28t Proper Magnalite Sprocket Polished
Shimano DX Pedals
Profile 175mm cranks with titanium spindle w/fly spanish bearing set, profile spacers.
Odyssey Frequency-G tires 20x1.75 tanwall back and front & standard tubes.

I run 28t sprocket and 9t driver as I like going top end speed at Cunningham Skate Park. Place is big guys always wind out with 25/9 set up.

Added for looks is Dia Comp MX seat clamp ano blue. Seat post looks to high because of frame design. So I added the clamp on the seat post, it also throws people off on what frame it is. I also add inside the holes in the frame custom gold covers. I run those late 80's/ 90's Haro Kneesavers bars because they are my favorite bars, and also everyone uses 2pcs bars now days so it sets me apart from everyone else. Plus I missed out on that era so I'm kind of catching up with the times I missed out on riding in that era. I originally got the 07 frame and set out to do a tribute to my old high school colors ( Waipahu) Blue and Gold for 20 years after I graduated from high school for the bike theme, but had to get an 08 later because of warrenty issues. From tighting and untighting the intergated seat clamp to much, it started to crack around it. So Eastern had no problem exchanging frames to fix the problem. Problem was fixed on the 08 as it is thicker in that area, and I don't mess around with changing seat post or adjusting it all the time like I did with the 07. I didn't graduate from Waipahu like I wanted to, but ended up staying in Calif. and graduated from here instead. Back then I always wanted to finish my Senior year in Waipahu with the friend I had so long, but things never end up like how you wanted them to. Thats my little story hope you guys enjoyed it!
Oh yeah last time I check the weight of the bike it was around 25lbs as is. Believe it or not! biggrin.gif
bmx joe
That was my Park bike... Check out my Dirt/Trails bike!

Riding dirt is pretty hard on my Freecoaster and my brake pads. So I set up a bike just for dirt. Also it was the bike I raced/set up last summer at the Santa Clara Pal track for Nicks Valencia race he had put on. Thats why number plate is still on.

Jeremy K.
bmxjoe,

Thanks for the breakdown. Man those tanwalls look cool! Are those tires ok on dirt too? I bet your scoot gets mistaken for an old school bike alot. Has that OG feel about it. I dig it! I like the seat post clamp idea. wink.gif I hope the rest of the guys will follow and post pics of their rides. Nice to see (Up close) what everyone is riding. Keep rockin my friend!

Jeremy,
It always gets mistaken for an old school bike at first! I have not had a problem with riding them in dirt. I also have had the Odyssey Path tire in tanwall as well with no problems on either cement or dirt. Tread pattern kind of resembles the old school snakebelly tires. I'm sure the tanwall tires will catch on more with time. Either some will hate them or love them, at least you have a choice now!
You also Keep Rockin! Marlo and another friend are headed up your way for The Pro Bowl in a few weeks.
You may have 2 or more riding partners for that week! They want to do some riding, wish I could be there too!

You guys are awesome! I thought it would be tougher than that to figure it out! I guess my logon name sort of gave it away...Anyways, mahalo for the invite! Pretty cool what all of you folks have done in maintaining this thread!

Funny thing, i recall all the mainland guys cracking up since I could barely touch the ground when sitting on the cruiser. But if I recall correctly, I had the holeshot off the gate and kept it until the first turn where the "bigger" guys used me and the bike as a berm....lol

I'll be sure to look for some pictures to post (although i gotta figure out what box and where it is...). Again, mahalo for bringing back all da memories!
