Same family business, might not be the same store location. I know the actual business name is G Takayesu(Buster) and son(Ben). But the store name was Waipahu/MCcully bike shop. I was a buyer for MCcully and all the paperwork said G Takyesu and son. Trivia, in modern times bikes were never the big money item even though they were called a bike shop. Fishing and Tennis paid the bills.

Wow thanks Stu, and Joe, yep ripe old 43 now. Still prime age for that new 41 & over class. Can't be in top form all year long, but just to focus on one or two races a year I think I could do OK. I'll try to pull a surprise visit on everyone sometime this year. Can't wait to see you all.

Hey Jason,
Any more updates on the track at Sand Island? Like when is the expected opening date? Like in 6 months?

So far the info in the paper is all that I have heard. Just waiting for the Ok to start. Once we are given the green light then we have to set up the track builder to come over to do it. Once the builder is here it will be about a week to build then about 2 weeks to pack in and smooth out. We could actually race within a month. As long as the fence is up, then we can use a electric generator for the gate and P.A. We will need a gate built. Unless we go old school and use a flagman. We will need lots of riders to get it packed in good, the more the better. Thats why the mainland tracks are ready so fast. A few hundred riders doing laps gets it smooth in about 1 hour. So no matter how much you intend to race we could use every bike we can get to do laps. I am sure BC can do some good packing. Even a moped with smooth tires will do good

Happy New Year all you dirt bunnies!
I have been riding alot and checked out the HK Track this past weekend. Jimmy Oshiro and Edric Young were there, along with 2 other guys on mountain bikes that came up. The place looked pretty buff so I wish I had my camera with me.
Jimmy let me check out his 26 ride, real nice.. he saw my BMX old school photographs through my Facebook page and hoped I would migrate back to BMX on a 24 or 26.. I am still not sure yet.
Honestly, I don't trust myself.. realize that if I get half the chance I will end up trying some crazy stunts and may pay frequent visits to the local hospital.
In any case, have the best year everyone!
Maybe.. after I calm myself down and practice some Zen or something..

BU,
Thanks for posting that Cannons Pic! I went there about a month ago to check the place out. We probably could build a jump there again.

I'm not sure who owns the property now though.
I fixed it for you.

QUOTE (Jeremy K. @ Jul 22 2008, 10:21 AM)

ZAP,
Here's how you can post old pics.
1. Scan the pic.
2. You need to download the scanned pic to a image hosting website. I use photobucket. You can open
a free account at photobucket.com
3. Now that you have your pic downloaded to photobucket you will see under the pic the following:
Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Code
IMG Code
Double click on the one that says Direct Link. A yellow pop up will appear that says copied.
4. Now go to vintage and post like you normally do. In the little tool bar for your post there are a bunch
icons. Go to the one that says "insert image" when you drag your mouse over it. It's one of the green
ones. Click on that.
5. An Explorer User Prompt will pop up on the top left of your screen. Right click on the white area where
it says http:// and then hit paste. It will enter the link for your image. Then hit OK.
6. You should be good to go. You can hit preview post to see if it works first.
Hope this helps. Looking forward to seeing your pics!

Welcome Rust808,
Thanks for mentioning the Hawaii Thrift and Loan Team. For the life of me I couldn't remember what Bank sponsored Romel and his brother. Then there were two or three other riders from that team that raced in the 15/16 year old class . The whole team from Hawaii Thrift and Loan were good. Hope to see some old pictures from the day if you have any. Please post them .Just follow Jeremy's directions and you can't go wrong.

Dang another town legend joining us. cool. Man I remember the trek we would make from Mililani just to hang out with you guys. I was amazed that every town guy was good at something. I learned a ton from all you guys as well as all those that were there before me. I have to say that there were probably a hundred guys I watched and got something that would make me better. And all while having a good time.
