Awesome Stings. I never owned a Sting, probably only cause every other rider in NJ had a Sting or Thruster.
Now Im wishing I had owned both and saved them lol.

Darrin, No problem. But you've got the right guy but the wrong name. Hahaha! I was a year younger than you and Robby but I raced you guys some when we had opens or Pro-Ams. My brother Todd is 4 years younger than me so you probably didn't race him.

I do remember that Father's Day race. Mr. Mylls did kick butt for sure. He still Races his Schwinn Paramount Track bike and does real well at it too!

Hey Scott,
You Loveless boys get around. Speaking of Schwinn Paramounts I picked up this little Creampuff a while back at a garage sale, a Team race bike with full Campy parts and Reynolds tubing. I was out thrifting in Azusa and got roped into helping the older guy having the garage sale move a couch into someones car. We went to the backyard and I saw this thing sitting there on the porch. The guy was 70 years old or so and said he bought it new for $500 back in 1972 but doesn't ride anymore. He asked if I wanted it for $100 for helping him out. The frame fits me so i'm going to clean it up and put some miles on it. The chrome lugwork and frame design is a good example of what Schwinn could do when they got serious about a racing bike...just like a Sting.

By the way, do you remember that 20 " bmx Tandem the Myll's had with full Campy components..what was the frame?

Those bike are unreal dialed in! Truly ultimate-build level Stings. Personal replica builds are the best!

I may as well join in and post mine yet again since you invited.

It's a replica of my first racer circa '84. It isn't up to the level of your bikes, but still very respectable for a 12 year old's paper route funded racer. I have my Mom and Bro to thank for getting me my original in '83 at a police auction. I got it in mostly stock/kind of beat down condition that Christmas and rebuilt it as shown with my own hard-earned $. I even shelled out for the sealed hubs, pedals and BB. It was stolen after that first season, but it did carry me to enough 1st place finishes to trasfer out of the beginner class that first season. I was really proud of that bike. It means a lot to me as you can tell.

Here are some of my sting's.

Got a red one on the way.

Darrin, Wow! That Paramount is killer. I love those things and hope to own one myself someday soon.

Have you seen the Waterford site with the history of Paramounts? Waterford is owned by Marc Muller and Richard Schwinn. Marc was the guy who was in charge of the Paramount Group BITD and also was the main designer of The Sting. Check ot the site here: Waterford Paramount Page

I do remember that Tandem. Mr. Mylls was rebuilding it last year to give to Robby and his daughter. Mr. Mylls doesn't remember who made it but for alot of reasons I'm convinced it was something Chuck Robinson did during the LRV era.

Akcuda, I really like your Sting alot. I agree that building replicas of our old race bikes are tons of fun. They are very challenging to do as you know because you're working from a set parts list and can't deviate or make changes to it. It takes a long time to track down all the correct parts.

That's also an awesome story of how you got that bike and upgraded it BITD. Sad that it got stolen but now you have it back in a way.

cbnbmxwv, Quite the herd of Stings you have there! I look forward to seeing pics of the red one when it's done!

C'mon fellas, there have got to be more people here that have Stings they would like to show off!

Yeah Scott,
I remember that Tandem looking alot like Chuck Robinsons LRV looptail and gusset design and had the same paint scheme as Robby's 20" LRV....see if you can get Robby's dad to post a pic when he's done restoring it, tell him I said hi if you get a chance.. Darrin.

And starting here too now.

Good place to start.... A lot of us can expand on that from there if needed.

Those are some awesome Stings guys. The black one that Scott has is awesome, something about the vibe of that bike just epitomizes old school bmx to me.

Here's mine, it's 100% complete and barely ridden, if at all (I've only sat and rolled around on my driveway on it). I bought this from Jeff Haney, who got it from Tim Cook, who I think bought it new. The dealer sticker on it is Midwest Bicycle Supply Co in Rock Island ILL. Maybe Tim can tell us more.

Beautiful workmanship on these bikes...

That's an interesting story in itself. How does a new midwest bike end up amongst the cali crowd. wow. very classic build.

Hey Scott, Dave Putnam here. I use to ride with the Gunnesever's and we came up to your house to ride on your ramp a couple times. At that time I had a pro-line. Before that, when I lived in Fairfax, I had a chrome sting. I loved that bike,,, nice ride. I didn't have much money, so after I crushed the stock cranks, I started putting the steel one piece cranks in it. Still bent a couple of those. I bought it from the bike shop across from Starlit. The guy was amazed when I brought in a set of bent forks. Thank God they had a good warrantly on the frame and forks. He wasn't too happy when I brought him in a second and third pair and started giving me a hard time. I asked him why he was giving me a hard time, Schwinn was paying for it. Anyways, switched over to a proline and didn't bend the forks anymore..... but I still loved that Sting!
Hey, I remember you were kinda quiet and laid back and your little brother was wound a little tight. Did he chill out when he got older?
