I have a very important frame coming to me. French mail trace says delivery attempt was made and my post office does not have the package nor was a notice left. Has anyone ever experienced any weird delays or possibly a mailed package arriving by another carrier rather than USPS if mailed from France?

Dave,
Does the tracking number work on the USPS site too?
I know from the UK I can use the USPS numbers on our postoffice tracker in the same way??

French site I tracked it and it is saying delivery attempt made but I got no slip and have been to post office twice and driver nor postal employees have seen box. I am not sure how the tracking works as far as once it is in the US. I have seller calling from his side to find out where it is. I would think with a tracking bar code the french post office should at minimum be able to tell what state/country it is in since it's not in my hands.

I sent something to the UK via USPS and had a similar thing happen in the opposite direction. The package tracking said that it was attempted but not delivered.
After a frantic email to the buyer and some some diligence on the buyer's part by asking persistant questions at the local level it was found - at a neighboring post office.
Turns out, they DID attempt to deliver it but never left any notes or messages, it was then sorted in with other mail and picked up to be returned to a central holding location for undeliverable mail.
You've got a good chance since you have the tracking info. It's probably bouncing around (not literally) as undeliverable for some reason. Maybe the seller addressed it incorrectly.
At any rate, it will have to stay stateside for a long time before it would be shipped back. I believe it will show up sometime soon.

BTW - what IS that Vitus thing anyway?
How many of those things were made?

Vitus were one of the first companies to make bonded aluminum road bikes, so i guess this is their attempt at a bmx. Certainly unique, but not sure about the strength (those tubes are glued to the lugs, not soldered like traditional lugged road bikes).
Heres a link to a complete bike:

Well, after almost a month a very happy day. A box with 10 holes smashed in it shows up with my Vitus Tagged #16. It came DHL even though shipped French POstal. Luckily not a scratch on the set. I feel like it's my birthday. I can stop doubling up on my blood pressure meds now.

How are you going to build it?

No rush on this. I may not build but I do have some french parts that have been collecting dust waiting. This thing is so light I'd say I could easily break the under 20lb total.
