Ken, were you clipped in? If you were, did it contribute to severity of the injury??
EMPI
Hey Ken, get well soon!

need me build a wheel chair access to your basement? =P
Ken Pliska
Just so you guys know, I was clipped in and the clips had nothing to do with the injury. In fact, I was fully unclipped before my leg hit the ground.

Funny though, everyone from the first responders to the EMTs to the ER docs to the Surgery team all asked and recorded the exact same question and answer about clips.

I heard you will have the most sought after cut of cast after the cast signing in AZ. HEHE

Glad you are in good spirits!!

The only things they ended up cutting off of me were my socks and Lycra tights that I was wearing under my race pants.
Things were looking so positive, and then blammo, this....Ahhh man, not the lycra tights.....say it ain't so....

(I was too scared of inciting a riot with the clip question, I mentioned that about 20 pages ago in the MN thread, ...brave GH, very brave, had the answer been "yes".....Ruh-roh...lol)

Glad you are in good spirits man.....Maybe we can organize a benefit sale on e-Bay for ya? You know, help with the loss of the lycra tights and all.

Just here to help.

Sooooo does it hurt when you laugh!?

Aside from the ribbing about the shorts, I find something is nagging to be said here....

I can't express how impressive it is, that while you are still in the thick of this, you have found nothing but positive things to say. Not only about the outlook, but about those around you during it.

Class act. Impressive.

I get the feeling you will be back in the saddle long before most of us could imagine doing so if we were going through it. ...

Damn Ken, this blows. Sorry to hear you wadded up that bad.
Souds like you're patched up and on the way to healing - your class and positive attitude will prevail.
I just wanted to pass along my best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope you can ride again before you get cabin fever! - Big Mike

Sorry for jumping in late. Hoping all is well.

Let me know if you need a hand getting anything from the basement or attic!

Take care and best wishes on a speedy return.

Hey Guys,

Just so you know........

Looks like one more month in the wheelchair, then some extensive and intensive Physical Therapy for a few months.... But first, another surgery in June to remove two of the long screws that are holding my Tib and Fib together now. So, for the first time since 1999, no Rockford for me

Thanks again for all of the well wishes.

I will be back!

Ken

major bummer ken. keep doing what you need to do to heal up proper and hang in there.
Mrs.Sod
Sounds like you're healing up right on schedule. Being in a wheelchair you probably can relate better now to handicapped, senior, and limited mobility home buyers.
Rockford will be waiting for you next year.
Take care.
