still need tires, brake / lever, and tuffs.

how can you tell the forks are backwards?

The angle. Could just be the angle of your photo but it looks backwords to me.

Got another side profile? Or, you'll know for sure once you try to ride it.

The forks are "pushed back", not aligned with the head tube and should be slightly forward due to the built-in rake. You notice it more when you have the wheel on and your feet keep hitting the knobbies when you turn with your cranks level.

Ya, the old Mongoose.. It does look like the fork is backwards.. or it's bent..

Fork with rake and a rake with fork, this is really crazy. No wonder aliens won't land here.
