It's a killer ride for sure
The "Tweaker" Bike.
Johnny Johnson was cool enough to give me this and with the help of Ray Macaulay (Tuff Is) it lives!!

The story goes that Johnny saw some tweaker riding it and offered him some dinero$ for it

Now the question becomes, should I repowder, leave it alone?

All opinions are welcome and will promptly be ignored..

I was just trolling through this thread and enjoying the classic art of full-suspension bike/ology, (by the way, Rick. I love it as is) and was thinking "how cool".
Then Gary chimes in with that last remark.
OH HE// YES, I would ride that in a minute!!!

Reilley, this is by no means is any disrespect to that machine. I post this as comparison only.
Whoever built that bike put a lot of thought and effort into it. Look at all the bends and multiple size tubes and support braces and if I am not mistaken, the headtube is lugged!
The Stuart/mono is your down and dirty, basic hard angles, square tubed, heavy duty "killer".
That "Tweaker" Bike has class.
I just noticed, Schrader Valves in the fork caps!

I seem to remember a lot of those around Huntington Beach and the South Bay. Popular with the surfers. I think who ever made them made a surfboard trailer for them as well.

It looks like you should lean back riding it down the street. It's kind of a laid-back design!
The Red Baron
Feb 22 2007, 08:49 PM
I'm thinkin' the previous owner was "laid back". Or is "tweekin" the opposite of laid back. I forget. I think I lost that memo.

props to Stu. and boos to Gary Turner who produced some "GT" monos of the same design. and Cook Bros, and Newport, who all also produced 95% similar frames. there are 3 or 4 CBRs floating around. Gary Turner still has one of "his". no Newports have surfaced though there were a couple ads in the old newspapers for them.

Around 2005 I was in San Diego and went to
Kobey's Swap Meet at the Sports Arena (IPay1 Center).
I saw that bike for sale and thought ............
"Someone collector may want this tweaker bike".
I talked to the guy for a minute.
He had just got out of jail and needed some money. I gave him $30 and he was happy.
Then he started acting kinda wierd. I took off! LOL!
I'm suprised Reilley1 took the time to actually build it back up.
Terrifying!

Tired of post apocalyptic mutant tweekers jacking up all the fine vintage BMX finds in your quadrant?
At a loss of how to counter act the senseless slaughter caused by these heartless soulless fiends??
Well worry no more! All you need is the new “Road warrior Hack 3000!!†(Now with recoilless cannon option)
Just imagine you and one of your lucky monkey friends blasting those godless tweaker scum back to the nether regions from which they came!!
Act NOW because the first 100 orders come with an extra 5 cases of ammo at no extra charge!!
(offer not available in all quadrant sectors by order of the ministry of uncommon sense.)
