Pulled from a barn a couple of months ago. It has a DG fork and check out the seat clamp!
This frame has not seen day light in over 25years!

Does the CYC Stormer have any relation to Ames Stormer? Heres my in progress Stormer (1977)

Hey Guy, Not really other than the CYC dist. name itself.
If you've ever seen the Pedals Ready GT bike, there basically the same without going into detail. I've also heard the Ames bike specs fell into someones hands and that's how it evolved. I've also heard it was a legit deal.. Anyone know the real story? The CYC Stormer isn't anything like the Ames bike though..
Damn I want an Ames frame.

Here's a couple of me in early 80' on my 79' Ames Stormer.
In one photo there's a GT head tube decal I put on it.
Someone let me know it wasn't a GT, it was an Ames Stormer.
In front at Rancho early 1980

Very cool Johnny! You look a bit tall for the ames frame. What forks are those?
My ames bike ^^ came as an actual bike that CYC sold and had those curved Tange forks, but once the straight Tange forks came out the bike was waaaaaay better handling. I cracked the frame (via BB) and had to get a GT standard... An almost indentical switch, which was cool. I have a ton more pics of that Ames w/ Phil's, Campy's etc. Ohh the good ol' days..
I love those old So Cal tracks.. Little cooler than the Austin trail above... geeeeez!

Dr. Brad,
I was on a Torker LPGT or an EK replica before the Ames Stormer.
Looks like I may be running Torker forks.

Johnny, That EK above was way cool. The EK seemed small to me vs Ames, or just alot different. ( My cousin had one). That Torker guy above went on to be one of MN's great road cyclists to date.
I just notice everyone had knobbies at this indoor event... LOL! It was the first on concrete of its kind in Minne. (probably 79). Hey, what did we know? LOL!

Who is that Torker rider?

Johnny, who was the Schwinn rider behind you?

Johhny, the Torker guy on the gate next to me is Mike Anderson. He was so close to being Tour de France caliber, and then I think he got hurt or something.. He didn't race bmx long and probably quit around 80.

i used to stare at that cyc ad in bmxa and wish i had an ames. about the closest i got was the tx-500 fork on my old quicksilver LOL
i scored an old 1980 bmxa the other week and saw that old ad and thought it would be really cool to build one exactly how it appears there. after reading here i'm finding it is going to prove very difficult locating the frame and stickers.
great pics, shows how tiny this frame was.

ebay coughs up some weird and wonderful things. i live in hope, along with the wait for a mk 1 quicksilver.
LOL, Brad when one turns up we may have a gunfight on our hands. there's just something about the "look" of that frame to me. the way the top tube is nearly the same rake as the seat stays and the way the seat stays go into the top tube behind the seat tube. *sigh*maybe one day.
