the holy grail!
Fergie
White/Blue and GREEN!
..over some chrome Double Down tubes and loop rear end..

>the holy grail!

..you are so right, my friend...

Everytime I see this tread pop up I think there might..might be a surfacing of one..
Evan
Note the two pics with non-loop rears -- never seen that before.

Gotta love the NBA plate at the ABA winter nats! I was at teh Boystown WOS and A LOT of people were drooling over that frame. Seems like they would have sold tons! Did they have financing/production issues?
Oldtimer1980s
I still don't know what "TW" stood for. Can anyone supply?

Oldtimer1980s
Evan
TW stood for "The Winner" or "Trick Wizards" take your pick:

Oldtimer1980s
"Take my pick"? Man, how did they do business without a formal name?

I see a looptail version and a non-loop version that is an obvious VDC made frameset.
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
TW Racing frames were made in 79'- 80' by DG/ Green Duck in Ramona California.

-Here's most of the factory team-
Denny Davidow
Andy Patterson
Pete Loncarevich
Korry Neal
Tosh Muraviov
There was another older amateur and a female.

I knew of one guy who had a TW frame, but when I asked him for some pics,
he stopped all communications with me. Bummer..........
seda
Looking to add TW Racing to the BMX acronym list.

SST - Scura Speed & Technology
TW -
VDC - Voris Dixon Cycles

I really don't want to put any work into this so I'm hoping someone knows.
SteveClark
There was a guy up here in Seattle named John Spillers who raced for factory TW then too. He was probably about 14 or 15 when he rode for them.
Tosh M
Hey JJ whats up. The girl on the team was Leslie Burley. Roger Linder was
the other rider you may be thinking of. TW stood for Taylor and Whimple. The
two guys that tried to get this thing off the ground. Drop me a call sometime. Later.
seda
Normally I would wait and see if Johnny remembers the names Taylor and Whimple. In this case though I'll go ahead and mark it down. Thanks a ton for posting that.

hi new to this site

I used to ride for TW Racing Factory in the late 70's early 80's and I do still have my TW. I had 3 TW's the 1st 2 were the straight tail rear end and I broke them both and the 3rd TW was the loop tail end.

I was talking to Roger Linder a few days ago he said he didn't have any TW's anymore and I'm not sure if Pete Loncarevich or Denny Davidow or any of the other Factory TW riders have any still.

I'm not sure but I just might have the only TW Racing Factory bike left and it's still in awesome condition.

Welcome to the site! Do you have any pictures of your bike that you could share?

+1

They look like really cool rides.

robbie neely here in austin was 3-4 years older than me and used to haul me to races once my parents quit taking me when i was like 14/15. he got ahold of i think one of davidow or loncarevich's old bikes around '84 or '85. he'd always wanted one and finally managed to swing it. robbie lived down the street from kevin hull and i think kevin may have facillitated the purchase, i'm not sure. don't know whatever happened to it. it was a really neat looking bike but if i remember right he got off of it pretty quick.

Yeah looking forward to the pictures. Never knew what TW stood for either. By the time I moved to California in late 81 they seemed to be out of business as I dont remember seeing any at the Orange Y. Correct me if Im wrong, were they still supporting a team in '82?
JohnSpillers
hey guys I didn't take any pic's at the 30th anniversary race I got my dates mixed up. The race is tonight and I thought it was last sunday. But I did take a few pic's of my TW for you guys.

I do want to say this someone was saying something about the looped back end and I said that I broke 2 of the straight tail ends but when I went and looked I have the straight tail end still. And the 2 other TW frames I broke were the looped tail ends.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Here is a picture of my TW Racing Factory bike the only thing I changed is the pedals, grips and chain everything else is the exact same way it was in 1982

I need to talk to Pete Longcarevich and see if he has any TW frames still.

This TW just might be the only 1 still around!
JohnSpillers
here's another pic
JohnSpillers
I think I took to many pic's

wonder what this bike would be worth to a Old School BMX Collector?

I think this was the 1st time the color green was used in BMX in late 70's & early 80's.

I don't remember seeing any other green back then.
DAN
Truly amazing! Thanks for posting the pics. I can't believe one actually exist and is in that kind of condition.

hey thanks

I just got home from the BMX races and it's really funny seeing people that don't even know what a TW is really want to know what kind of bike this is. All the Old School guys still trip out on this bike.

Earlier today I was trying to find out more info on TW Racing frames and I came across a website that convinced me that this is the last TW Racing bike left.

James Tayler and Brian Wimple are the 2 guys that started making these TW Racing frames and formed TW Racing Factory Team. I found a website that James Tayler who was the T in TW for those who did not know. He was asking if anyone had any TW frames still, because he was looking for one. So my guess is that James Tayler doesn't even have any.

I'm not sure I would ever sell this bike,

But I still wonder what it's worth to a BMX collector.

If there's any BMX collector out there interested send me a message, this bike is in excellent condition, very well taken care of it's been in storage since 1982

thanks for the comment appreciate it alot..

I think it would be very hard for me to sell this bike after having it all these years. Like I said I'm not sure I would ever sell it. But $$$ talk's and who know's lol

thanks again

Wow!!! that's incredible!!!! anytime someone started a thread on the most elusive frames, i always put TW down. as they were prone to breakage makes them even more rare. thanks so much for sharing that piece of BMX history with us. it should be in a museum.

In your original post you mention you cracked both straight stay versions and the looptail survived. Was that a mistake because yours is the straight stay version?

Incredible bike you have there!

Wow! That is in such great condition!

It's so cool that you took great care of it.

Yes when I said that I cracked 2 other TW frames I was thinking that it was the straight back end. Because I was looking at my pic of my profile shot. But when I went in my garage and looked it was the looped back end that I cracked. But just to make things clear as far as the 2 TW frames that I had cracked. It wasn't the tail looped end that broke or cracked, because it was only a crack.

It was the front end of the frame that cracked not the tail end. And the spot where I cracked them was right under the oval top tube right at the head set. And 1 of the TW frames I cracked TW Factory fixed it with a small plate welded to the head set top oval and double down tubes and TW sent me 2 more frames and 1 was the fixed TW with the looped back end the other was the straight tail end that I still have.

I co-sponsored Anthony Perry (Clarence "The EarthQuake" Perry) brother through TW Racing Factory and I gave the fixed TW frame with the looped back end to Anthony Perry and he rode a co-sponsor for TW Racing. just to give you a little NW history.

This TW Racing Factory bike I still has never cracked and I was always pretty hard on bikes back in the day, I always loved big jumps. lol
But at the same time I have always took good care of what ever I had.

I always knew this TW Racing Factory bike was special so I tried my best to take good care of it.
I'm glad you guys like the pictures I took a few days ago of the last existing TW left.
Kerry
Great memory and history...thanks for sharing.

thanks I'm so glad I got on this site. Every once in a while I would try to find out any info on TW Racing but never really had any luck.

It's awesome there is so much interest with TW Racing. When I got a Factory TW Racing sponsor w/ Vans, Oakley and Max and a few other co-sponsor's it was a dream come true for me.

Staying over at Pete Longcarevich's house in OC during National's was something I will never forget. Pete's father 'RIP' always took really good care of me. And Pete was always cool, great memories for sure. Thanks Pete
