just looking to see if someone could post an accurate timeline for the different styles they had of brakes and what years they came out.

Here are a few.
Dates might not be perfect but close:
890 -late 70s to 86?
900 -early 80s to 86?
1000 -early 80s to 86?
901 -1984 or 85 to ?
880 -1985-87
883(nippon) -1986 or 87-present
990 -1987-present

I have an MX1000 caliper dated xx80, so they went back at least to 1980.

900/1000 came out in '79. 901 came out in '85.
