Was Dugan the dude at Rockford that brought all those bikes? That was cool! And thats the first person I thought of when I got the pics. But, the guy that sent me these pics is not named Dugan.
Maybe there is a connection, though? Not sure yet.
rick
Feb 7 2007, 11:09 AM
yep, Dugan had the trailer full, I mean teaming with bikes. I think he found them all in less than six months as well. Completely insane.

I remember that dude at Rockford pulling bikes out of the trailer! It was a weird scene as they were all choice bikes and they were just being tossed out.

That guy at Rockford somewhat described to me his source where he located all those bikes. If he is going to becoming a new member, I will let him decide if he wants to share that info with the group. Nice guy too.

Tom, can you post more pics? That's like staring at a Hemi Cuda sitting in a barn that you just found. Amazing.

Feb 7 2007, 01:21 PM
He did it the old fashioned way....calling people who used to race and getting their old race bikes. I think he got over 50 in six months if I remember my conversation with him correctly. Couple of those people I coulda/shoulda called years ago....

He has not sent me anymore pics yet. Perhaps he will tonight? If I get some and he doesn't mind, I will post em.

I'm a Patterson freak and those photos did little for me.
That guy was classic at the ROck. I guess it shows you don't need a computer to collect!
Is that a lot of bikes??? Rick, Pat does that seem like a lot to you?
pquinnbmx
Feb 7 2007, 03:06 PM
That seems like bikes I could fit in my bedroom, then we got two storage units and my garage and my backyard and another bedroom to mess with, so no, it does not look like a lot of bikes to me, but my perspective is a little skewed. hee hee

Gotta be Dugan Neil! He scored those Pattersons last year up in MI.....

I sold Dugan a few of my old bikes. I haven't heard from him in a while is it Dugan Neil we are talking about? He is always asking me to handle online things for him. Not sure if he even has a computer.

I've been to Dugan's house, that could be but I'm not positive. He's a mad man....in a good way...if there is such a thing.

Wow, that is a crazy collection. I must have stared at those pictures for 15 minutes just trying to spy every part and bike in the shot.
It is almost a shame that they are all packed in there so tight, that they cant be enjoyed. If he needs storage space in Idaho, I am willing to help out.

Dugan, He has raced a long time ... And he knows a lot of people. He bought some things from me fri. at the rock. He didnt hesitate on the price eather. Very nice guy I see him at the nationals from time to time..
John De Bruin

"He didnt hesitate on the price eather."
So he's paying fair market value for these bikes? That's not as impressive as "finding them right before they were to be taken to the dump".
But from my conversations with him, it sounded like he had one single source for a lot (or all) of those bikes at the Rock, and that he probably got a sweet deal on them. That's impressive.

So is this the same Dugan Neil who sold my dad a Redline MX-II? My dad told me about a "Dugan Neil" who worked at a 7-11 that he used to deliver to when he worked for Langendorf Bakeries, the 7-11 was on Wilshire and Highland in the Hancock park area of Los Angeles just south of Hollywood. I think I met him one time at Ascot but I can't remember...

I take that back, I just called my Dad and the 7-11 was on Sunset Blvd/Curson close to Highland Ave.

Ramon,
It was more than likely him. He moved out to California in the 90's living with Ronnie Anderson whom owned a few 7/11's I believe.

Deanna, this was in Southern California and it was yeah, mid to late 1980's. I just remember my dad coming home pretty excited that one of the guys who worked at a 7-11 he served was into those "jumping" bikes that I was into...

Deanna, unfortunately that Redline was stolen along with Two P.K. Rippers, and a Diamond Back Silver Streak out of our garage...
My dad would always talk about Dugan, seems he and my dad would chat while my dad was delivering there...I'll ask him if he remembers a "guy" named Ronnie.
It would be kind of cool to see if he remembers my dad because my dad sure remembers him, he even bought a BMXAction sometime in 1987 because he saw Dugan in a race photo towards the back.
