All,
Good afternoon. Thanks so much for watching and supporting the show these last couple of months. Below is a press release for the season finale featuring the late, great Jim Pomeroy. Since this is our last show for the season we hope you all watch and tell friends to make sure our ratings are strong. You can also provide feedback on the series to Speed @ www.speedtv.com/feedback.
We don't know if we'll get picked up for a third season but we hope so. It would be great to keep doing these stories as I know you all can imagine some of the riders who may be coming up.
Thanks again and enjoy Tuesday night's show. Bring tissues...
Best,
Todd

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE LATE JIM POMEROY TO BE FEATURED ON SEASON FINALE OF “THE MOTOCROSS FILES†ON SPEED TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH, 2007
Known as “The First Americanâ€, Jim Pomeroy was the the first American rider to win a motocross Grand Prix in 1973. He was killed in a car accident on August 6th, 2006 one week after the interview for the program.
FULLERTON, CALIF. (February 4th, 2007) – Season Two of “The Motocross Files†(MXF) wraps up on Speed with the premier of the late Jim Pomeroy’s story as a fitting season finale. The program will air on Speed at 9:30pm EST on Tuesday, February 6th with additional airs @ 1:30am on 2/7, 9:30am on 2/7 and 7:00am on 2/10.
Jim Pomeroy’s story was part of the original seven-show line-up for the 2006-2007 and the initial interview for this program was shot at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Motorcycle Days last summer. Jim was killed in a car accident the following weekend and before his formal sit down interview for the program could take place. In light of the tragic event, the producers thought making Jim’s show the season finale would be appropriate and made arrangements to include other personalities who could fill in some of the blanks.
“We felt making Jim’s show our finale would be the best thing to do and were able to find some important people in Jim’s life to complete aspects that we didn’t get in his first interview in Mid-Ohio. Said Todd Huffman, Producer for the show.
Jim Pomeroy was known as “The First American†of motocross for his many ground-breaking accomplishments in his career most notably, winning the 250cc Grand Prix of Spain in April of 1973 on his first try and a first for an American. He also was the first non-world champion to win a Motocross or Trophee des Nations event in 1974 and first American to win a moto at the prestigious Carlsbad USGP in 1977. He retired in 1980 but began racing American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association races in 2003 and won the Over-50 title three years in a row.
“Jim Pomeroy was an incredible rider and one of my heroes as a kid. It was a sad day for his family and the motocross community when he passed away. I wish I had gotten to know him better during the production of his show that he was so excited to have completedâ€. Huffman added.
The Jim Pomeroy episode will re-air again in late February or March but marks the end of the second season of the ground-breaking television series. Producers are hopeful that the series is picked up again by Speed for the fall of 2007.
“It has been a great season for the show and so far everyone has been supportive about what we are doing. We are optimistic that the network will continue to see importance of the program for the fans and industry.†Huffman concluded.
