All,
Good afternoon. Thanks so much for watching and supporting the show these last couple of months. Below is a press release for the season finale featuring the late, great Jim Pomeroy. Since this is our last show for the season we hope you all watch and tell friends to make sure our ratings are strong. You can also provide feedback on the series to Speed @ www.speedtv.com/feedback.
We don't know if we'll get picked up for a third season but we hope so. It would be great to keep doing these stories as I know you all can imagine some of the riders who may be coming up.
Thanks again and enjoy Tuesday night's show. Bring tissues...
Best,
Todd

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE LATE JIM POMEROY TO BE FEATURED ON SEASON FINALE OF “THE MOTOCROSS FILES” ON SPEED TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH, 2007

Known as “The First American”, Jim Pomeroy was the the first American rider to win a motocross Grand Prix in 1973. He was killed in a car accident on August 6th, 2006 one week after the interview for the program.
FULLERTON, CALIF. (February 4th, 2007) – Season Two of “The Motocross Files” (MXF) wraps up on Speed with the premier of the late Jim Pomeroy’s story as a fitting season finale. The program will air on Speed at 9:30pm EST on Tuesday, February 6th with additional airs @ 1:30am on 2/7, 9:30am on 2/7 and 7:00am on 2/10.

Jim Pomeroy’s story was part of the original seven-show line-up for the 2006-2007 and the initial interview for this program was shot at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Motorcycle Days last summer. Jim was killed in a car accident the following weekend and before his formal sit down interview for the program could take place. In light of the tragic event, the producers thought making Jim’s show the season finale would be appropriate and made arrangements to include other personalities who could fill in some of the blanks.

“We felt making Jim’s show our finale would be the best thing to do and were able to find some important people in Jim’s life to complete aspects that we didn’t get in his first interview in Mid-Ohio. Said Todd Huffman, Producer for the show.

Jim Pomeroy was known as “The First American” of motocross for his many ground-breaking accomplishments in his career most notably, winning the 250cc Grand Prix of Spain in April of 1973 on his first try and a first for an American. He also was the first non-world champion to win a Motocross or Trophee des Nations event in 1974 and first American to win a moto at the prestigious Carlsbad USGP in 1977. He retired in 1980 but began racing American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association races in 2003 and won the Over-50 title three years in a row.

“Jim Pomeroy was an incredible rider and one of my heroes as a kid. It was a sad day for his family and the motocross community when he passed away. I wish I had gotten to know him better during the production of his show that he was so excited to have completed”. Huffman added.

The Jim Pomeroy episode will re-air again in late February or March but marks the end of the second season of the ground-breaking television series. Producers are hopeful that the series is picked up again by Speed for the fall of 2007.

“It has been a great season for the show and so far everyone has been supportive about what we are doing. We are optimistic that the network will continue to see importance of the program for the fans and industry.” Huffman concluded.

Thanks Todd,
Really have enjoyed watching the series.Especially this season. Episodes seem a notch better with a little more in each.
Any idea on ratings?..seems Jeff Wards was pretty heavily watched.
I was thinking how good we have it, I can remember in the 70's and 80's we were lucky to get a little moto on Wide World of Sports..and now we have Live and next Day coverage, Motocross Files, etc..Thanks SpeedTV,CBS and you too Todd.

ps. Side note..ran into Larry Ward in the airport last week. Nice guy. We chatted for a good while..he was apeasing the wife by going skiing so he would have more time to hunt

I just left feedback as well. The shows are awesome. Jimbo has always been a hero - I always ran #57 in tribute to Pomeroy.

OK everyone, here's a photo of JP at the Mid-Ohio Vintage days, just over a week before his untimely passing. What a great guy!

Oh yeah, if you're wondering, the other guy is 500cc World Champ, Bad Brad Lackey.
THdoesntride
Fergie-The rating are ok. It's certainly not "Pinks" which is their number one show.

Ajay-Picture looks like it was taken over at them thar Texas boys pits. Those are some great folks!

Spread the word to all to watch Jimmy's show.

Thx!

Todd

I just found this show a month ago and absolutly love it. I have the Jeff Ward show recorded and I'm just waiting to watch it. As a Honda rider since the eighties I couldn't stand Ward, now he has a ton of respect from me. I will be leaving feedback at Speed as soon as I finish writing this and I cant wait for the dvd's. That pic of Bad Brad is so awesome. Around 83, as a kid I remember reading his riding techniques series every month in Dirt Rider magazine. To this day I think about what I learned from that as I ride. I just want to say thanks for all the great memories I get from watching the show.

Thanks Señor Huffman!
Looking forward to it. At this time, I'd like to tell you how much I enjoy Motocross files. Interviews with Motocross' greatsest personalities from a special time in my 'youth'. So far, really have enjoyed episodes of: Ward, Weinert, Tripes, Hannah, Smith, DeCoster, Tony D, etc. Will there be a way to purchase the series on DVD at some point? Until then, thanks, will stay tuned.
Thanks! ~Guy

Sure was Todd. A couple of great night's were had with the Texans....

So have you worked out who I am???? (hint: check my web site).
THdoesntride
Al,

Hey, now I've figured it out. Are you guys coming to VMD this summer? Should be fun. Say "Hi" to Ken for me. I wear my VMX shirt proudly!

Best,

Todd
AjayVBMX
Yep we'll be over for VMD again - wouldn't miss it!

We're also holding our own version of VMD in April, called Classic Dirt 4 here in OZ. Bad Brad is coming down for that, along with Super Hunky.

There'll be lots of petrol powered blender action there too.....
THdoesntride
Ah...man ...I'm jealous. Don't run that blender to the redline if you know what I mean.
ROD BRONCO BECKERING
I would like to take a moment to give my buddy and life long friend Todd Huffman a well deserved pat on the back for making this show a reality. Some of his previous ventures in my mind were great events but didnt pan out as expected. I would just like to say that i'm proud of you and happy this show is a total success. Long live the memory of the pillow case massacare ! LOL. Talk to you soon huff. Bronx.
THdoesntride
Thanks Rodney...Maybe now I'll have some time to go ridin' with you and D. Say "Hi" to mom...I know, I know, I'll say hi myself.

That was a good episode. Especially the minute on his training with Dave McCoy from Mammoth Mountain.

I remember as a kid reading about Jim's win in Spain in Cycle News and I saw him race at the Trans AMA races in Livermore. Great show.

Here is a picture we took of Jim at Lake Whitney, TX BITD.

After watching the MX Files, I can see why he was so dang fast through this corner. I remember he never let off of the throttle at this huge sweeping corner. R.I.P. Jim
Guy Mazza
Agreed. Great episode. In the 80's I got hurt on Mammoth Mtn, and had to be taken down on a stretcher by Ski Patrol. Dave Mc Coy sent me a postcard wishing me a speed recovery! Class acts, Pomeroy & Mc Coy.
