Hey guys,

Yeah, it's been a while, and I'm still a newb here, but real life has put my hobbies on the back burner for the past year or so. Anyways, I'm always on the lookout for a vintage bike to play with and I found my FIRST score! Got it for 10 bucks! Figured you guys would wanna see it!

After more than 2 years of looking at yard sales, flea markets, swap meets, and thrift stores, I finally found a decent bike...

It's an 85 (I think) Hutch Pro Raider and is 100% original condition! It even has the Hutch grips and seat! It's got all the decals (typical shape..rough) and has the Hutch spider and Araya rims with Suzue Hubs. It's only missing the CPSC stuff and front caliper.

The frame and dropouts appear to be perfect and untouched, but the bike is super dirty and has surface rust on the welds, etc. I think it'll clean up really well, though.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet...I'm dying to tear it apart and get it cleaned up, though.

Anybody know a good source for these decals, if any?

Oh, here's some pics...

just clean it and keep it as a survivor....... dont go putting new decals on it.

ive got an all original one in white that still has the chainguards on it. the grips on mine were swapped out for a more comfy mushroom 2 when they bought it though

Nice bike and a great score. Strangely enough, I see more Pro Raiders now than I ever saw in the 1980s--the locals had Pro Racers, Hollywoods, Judges and Trick Stars, even a Wind Styler, but I can't remember a single guy with a Pro Raider. But I guess people were buying them, because they're pretty prolific! I've owned three in the past few years, and number four just barely got away. They're cool bikes. Make sure to post some photos after you've cleaned your new find.

You think so? I hate torn up decals, but I also understand where you're coming from. I still have my 85 Californian from BITD and haven't applied the NOS decals yet...just havent' been able to pull those things off yet.

BITD, I really liked these Pro Raiders. It was one I considered when purchasing my Cali in 85. Pro Class rims, color and weight sold me on the Mongoose, though

keep it original......

85 cali nos decals..........????????????
where did they come from.......you know for a fact they are true nos.......might be better off keeping the originals on it

Yeah Dave, I bet they sold a lot of Pro Raiders since they were pretty inexpensive compared to the other Hutches...I'll post some pics.

Yeah vrobb, I found NOS Mongoose Decals on ebay a few years ago. Just the downtube and fork decals actually. I'm pretty sure they're NOS...they've been around the block for a while...quality looks good, but still you never know.
