Is that the Shawnee, OK track? Wow, Matt and I built that track and I don't have many photos of it. Is that the race where Stu beat Nachman at the end of the Trophy Dash?

Cash,
Yes, I believe that is the one. NBA Summer Nationals 1977 maybe?
Stu was flying and passed Kenny like he had a boat anchor tied to his bike.

Hollyfield Park/Norwalk had a drop into a turn just like that. But I do not think that is where this picture is.
I could only find a picture from the other side. The background is similar. But then again, name these guys...

Marvin Church(?) in the white t-shirt and Tinker, don't know who the last guy is.

I think that is Holifield. There was an age cutoff that you couldn't hit that section unless you were 12 or older. One time as an 11 y/o, I hit that section while leading a qualifier. The guys behind me followed so I still got the transfer which was pretty cool. Got anymore pics of Holifield???
Thanks, Mike

Sorry Spike, that's not Marvin. He would have known Marvin, though.
Yes Micheal, I have other pics of Norwalk. Have you looked through my thread? "The Red Baron is in the House". There are some in there.

That is Thom Lund at the dropoff at Hollyfield. Michael, there are several pictures from Hollyfield on earlier pages in this thread.

I think the picture of Dennis is the berm right after the drop at Hollyfield. And I think the rider on the outside of Tinker is Robby "Dirt Clod" O'Hare.
And I can't believe no one gave the correct name for the "Cherry Drop" drop-off at Hollyfield!

Hollyfield! MAN, could there have been a simpler track? I don't remember PK and/or the Valley guys showing up too often there.
As soon as PK mentioned "cherry drop" I remembered it, but I would not have come up with that on my own.
I have some other shots of just me at Hollyfield I will have to post on my thread later.

Wow, Ramos thread dropped off the front page. We can't have that.
So lets place a photo of the Ramo himself right here.
I'm thinking this is first turn at Corona, and he is riding a "Rink's Raider". Reilley told me Steve Rink called it that. I never heard it called that, but I like it.

I'd like to see a "now-a-days" rider do this^while clipped in.

What do Ramo and the Red Baron have in common?
Neither of them were "clipped" in.

Mar 12 2007, 12:00 PM
I found a picture of the bike in the photo above.
I recall the Rink's Raider name but that was just nickname and the pre Torker frames were just called a Peddlepower frame. Compared to my old 4 1/2 inch cranks, these arms look huge! As far as clips go THESE days, I wouldn't ride my mountainbike with them, even on a downhill bike.

You won't see slides like that in todays racing.
I think you will be suprised in AZ. I like the old racing but todays is cool to watch. The Top riders today have to have the whole package and full body conditioning. Speed, Power, Gate, Jumping, Timing, Rythem. A lot like watching Supercross.

Well Reilley.
He would be the Leader. The currently in 1st Place rider. and Leader in the photo. To the guy behind him, That guy in front of me. # 285 and also known as Number 285 maybe known as just 285. The 2nd place riders reason for not winning. And of course somebody's Kid. Might be somebody's friend but I am not sure of that.

Brian, You post really cool images as they are new (never been in print) and they are so crisp and clean.
Check the guy on the TM or RM out. Just blasting down a fire road on his motorcycle and he just stopped to watch.

I was wondering if that was Steve Rink on far left and Elaine Holt, third from left.
I don't think that's Steve Rink, but it could be Elaine, She used to wear her shirt collars out like that.
