Evan
Nice build! Is that really the brand/model name of the brake lever?! If so, that's some awfully inept marketing.
KOSY-MOTO

Hey Luis, you need to fill everyone in on the hubs.

You got some playa-haters saying they are nasty repop Son Lites.

What gives.
Gooser
Seriously...I need to buy some of those hubs.

And, also...is that REALLY the name of that lever? Who markets it? 50 Cent?
KOSY-MOTO
See what I mean.. hahahaha.. those hubs are made by Valisum (Son-lites). I have one more up for grabs.. at the right price Just keep in mind that these hubs are not repop.. these are the real deal hubs from the early 80's. Actually these were made before Son-lites came out in the mid-80's.
- close up shot for the playa-haters.. hehehe NOW thats NASTY!! hehehehe

COASTY
Is that right Luis?? Cool. I can't wait for this....
COASTY
Seems the company was founded in 75. Is it possible that they made these for Son lite ?? School me people. I honestly don't know.

That is a HARE hand brake lever and a Terry cable and lever protector!
AndyDiamond
As Luis is a gangsta I think the name of the lever was a bit of fun - lol.

Also, with the hubs - I'm pretty sure they are later than Son Lites and are good old Taiwanese copies.
Nice hubs, just not the 'bling'.
big_air
really clean, enjoy.
jeffry1970
they still make hubs,i dont know about that model:

are you trying to find some era correct bars or are you happy with those repro bars?
Randy
These hub now proceed Son-Lites?

They seriously need to fire their marketing firm

Explain to us how a product in this market finally shows up 20+ years later. I've seen their website, those hubs are on it.

blasphemy
jeffry1970
i think we are their marketing firm.
been around since 1975 and no one hasheard of them?website says patent pending for those specific hubs.
G-Flash
Are those made in a 48 hole?
jeffry1970
thats what the website says.
Gooser
Yeah, those hubs are the new-school Taiwanese version of Son-Lites, which never came in that two-tone annodized/polished combo.

If I can find someone who works at a shop (and, possibly, speaks Cantonese), I can probably hook up a connection w/these Valisum fellows.

I'm not really buying that they're "original" or pre-Son Lite. They're knock offs from Taiwan, and as such, I'm willing to pay what knock-offs from Taiwan would run. Which is nowhere NEAR Son-Lite price range.

(Also, I'd like to score some of the blue/silver ones.)
Gooser
And as far as "patent pending" is concerned, I'm sure that since Son Lite bit the dust aeons ago, and might have never patented that design, that it's a moot point.

Besides, all you'd have to do is have one more/less "revolver hole" and you'd have a "different" design in terms of patent. Maybe the two-tone counts as a "seperate" design...
Gooser
Actually, now that I go back and look at the picture again, those hubs are nothing like Son Lites. They're more like a knock off of TNTs, which were a knock-off of Son Lites, in that the "revolver holes" don't go all the way through the flange (and thus, take much less machining and are easier to produce to begin with).
KOSY-MOTO
LOL.. what a classic.. hahaha... These hubs came out of a box dated 1983.

Hubs are 36ers

ENjoy,
Kosy-Moto
jeffry1970
ok,LOL..so theyre a knock off from 1983..hahaha..

still cool hubs.
Gooser
Well, could be from 1983...though they're definitely not Son Lites.

As Lloyd Bentsen once said to Hwang Valisum during a Vice-Presidential debate:

"I knew John F. Son-Lite. And you, sir, are no John F. Son-Lite."
