I finally found a picture of my brother and I with a BMX bike.

It was owned by a friend of my brother. Never the less, it was the first BMX bike I rode. I date the picture from 1980. The Dodge truck was a 1979 and the my mom's car had registration tags due in 1981 (Info gathered from another photo in the lot.)

1980 would make my brother 11 and myself 6 years old.

...although it may look like it in the following picture, I do not suffer from any mental or physical disability.

...anyone got a frame like the one in the picture for sale?

John

Hey John,

Great pics mate!

One of the members here in Oz (Redlineoz) had one on the bay this week that didn't sell.
See here:

It's the base model tri-moly DB from 79 & 80. Also sold I believe as Centurions (DB's parent company). Cool old bike. Catalogue below - see the bike on the far right.

Cheers Kurt

Kurt,
Thanks! I saw redlineoz's previous post regarding that frameset. I just PM'ed him about it.

also, there was link, might you been you who posted it, of the image you posted. I think it was from Sandy's site. You can click on the small image to get the full size, but the server that the full size resides on it no longer available. I even went through the internet archive, but couldn't get a larger picture.

Thanks again.
John
Kurt.
Yeah I know mate - there's a ton of stuff - tests, articles, pics - that Sandy Finkelman loaded that is obviously no longer supported by whatever picture hosting he used before he passed away. Damn shame!
Kurt.
BTW - yours are the are the best pics I have ever seen of that particular DB. Very cool.

Cool old pics....

I have the same frame, same blue colour, but stickered as a 'centurion' with headbadge etc, also, i have a chrome one too which i'll get rid of (i only need one).....

Both my frames come with matching 'centurion' forks too, featuring "baseball logo serial numbers"

If anyone needs closeup pics etc, i'm happy to provide.....and if you don't score Brians frame, you can certainly take mine.

Marty

awesome reference pic ! that really shows the standard for parts on a "regular mans" bmx bike from the era ! i can remember my best friends brother matts first bike, a tangerine colored rampar r-11, it was so sweet !

Not sure if it affecting others, but looks like the pictures are not coming in...

I switched DNS servers and looks like it reverted back to the old ones, so it can't find the images.

Should come back soon.

Thanks.
