Anyone know how many chromoly 20" Nomura frames were made and when? You never see anything about these frames. Mine is serial number
NRPWC132.

Nic Johnson99
Yeah dude, none. There were never any chromo Nomuras. That's a Huffy KFC Spitfire. The forks are nice though.
Walter
i heard a long time ago just a few hundred.
BRIAN HAYS
Who else has any? I'm sure Jeff Haney does but haven't seen him around here.

Thanks Tone.

Nic, are you drunk again?
Nic Johnson99
...alright, alright, there's no such thing as a KFC Spitfire--I just made that up. And yes there may have been some tasty dark beer involved. What are friends for...
t nile
I was wondering about the KFC. Good one.

NFR5111 had a complete one a few years back.
Bender
A rare frame to have, I have an old BMX Plus or Action that has one pictured in the buyers guide section, had the same decals as the aluminum Nomuries.
Are you planning to throw it up on Ebay after creating a buzz here?
BRIAN HAYS
Absolutely NOT, Bender. It is one of the frames I will keep for a long time. I tried to sell it a few months ago when raising money to buy my GTO back, but pulled the auction even then because I knew I'd never have another one. This frame and my alloy 20" Nomura are keepers till the end. I've just never seen another one around, (except one on ebay that I think Jeff Haney bought).

Fair enough. Put some stickers on that beast, if ever a frame demanded to scream out what it was!
BRIAN HAYS
Ya, looking for some now as a matter of fact....

#132 is one of the ones I found in a basement in Charlestown, MA in 2004. I sold that and #131 to Old School Rob in November of 2004, along with the 26" frame I found with it. Here is the whole score.

And this one is #132 the day I found it.

Did Nomura's come out with Bottema forks as standard (because i seem to see many of them with them) or did you just buy the frame???
Scotty
BRIAN HAYS
Scotty, The frames were by themselves. Everone seems to get Bottema's for them (both of mine have them) but I think the Nomura brothers always ran Tange forks on their cruisers.

NFR5111, Thanks for all the pics. It figures mine and yours are one in the same. I got it from Darrin Chan early this year. Cool to see how it was. Thanks.

So oldschoolrob bought 132 from NFR5111, sold it to Darrin who then sold it to Brian?

I wonder how much the price increased as it traded hands?
Nic Johnson99
Here is some info on the forks. I'm just passing it along, this came to me in an email.
-----------------
"Nomura Racing was partially backed by Shimano, who supplied him with Tange forks. I took that to mean that the Nomura 20" bikes used Tange forks. Wade Nomura was friends with Jeff Bottema and Jeff had just introduced his own line of forks, Wade didn't say who built them, but obviously since Bottema was a racer--not a welder/manufacturer--someone was making them with his design & name on them. So Wade used Jeff's new forks on his personal bike to support his friend's business. Wade said that he liked Jeff's forks--said they were tough and never bent or broke--but later switched to Tange's new PRO forks as they were lighter than Bottema's."
NFR5111
OSR had both, he sold 132 to Darrin and 131 to Jeff Haney. I believe the 26" ended up with Jeff also, but I could be wrong on that.

I was kind of sad to see both of the chromoly ones broken up since they were consecutive serial numbers......talk about the rarest of rare, you don't much better than that.

As far as price goes, all I can say is they were not cheap when I sold them!
BRIAN HAYS
I gave $800 for #132 (frame only).

Passing on more info that I can't take credit for (or validate):

"Wade says they made 150 20" chromoly frames. ALL were welded by CW Racing, using Wade's design & specs. The serial #'s were all NR WC 001-150! NR stood for NOMURA RACING; WC stood for both CW Racing (with letters reversed) AND (Insane) Wayne Croasdale--who was the MAIN REQUESTOR of the frame, who bugged Wade until he designed it for him! Wade said Wayne wanted "a super large" front triangle--and said Wayne was "not very smooth" on a bike and that the chromoly frame flexed more than the aluminum did which cushioned his riding style! The Factory bikes used CW forks or Tange PROs."
BRIAN HAYS
"The serial #'s were all NR WC 001-150! "

OK, what does the "P" stand for?? The serial is NRPWC0132.
BRIAN HAYS
Thats NRPWC132, no zero, sorry.
BRIAN HAYS
I've got some nice stuff I'd like to trade for anything Nomura. Anyone interested? Tom P????
