Let me start by saying I have a renewed faith in mankind, and a huge THANK YOU to Dan Palmer (azbikeagent) and all my brothers here on the boards. The support I got from you guys was astounding. Dan said you guys flooded his ebay message page, first round at Rockford is on me. OK heres the details. I was getting kinda nervous because I had not heard from azbikeagent and it was going on 4pm, so I checked my yahoo just before I left and this is what I found ........
Hey Cheez, how are ya doin? I understand that I have your bike.
I am the shop on 59th and Cactus. I work wtih the Glendale Police Dept. on a program called the Bike Angels that rehabs bikes and disperses them to under priveleged children for Christmas. That is how I came in possession with this bike. I just could not let this one go to a kid who did not appreciate it. Every once in a while (about 1 in 100) a bike comes along that I can recoup some of the cost of this program. I am assured by the GPD that all measures are taken to get the bikes back to the original owners before they are brought to me but I guess this one slipped through. Did you have a serial number for the police report when the bike was stolen. Doesnt matter either way. I want to return this bike to you. I think there is no better form of the quote unquote Bike Angels that to get a bike back to the original owner, especially when it is an 82? Race Inc!!!
Give me a call at the shop after 2:30 today if possible) and we can discuss this in further detail and arrange a time to pick up the bike. I am pulling all of the auctions of your stuff down as we speak.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Dan Palmer
So I called and Dan answered, we had a long conversation about when the bike was stolen, and where I happened to be at that time, (Rockford), about how it could have managed to slip thew the cracks in PD, the condition of the bike when he got it (not the greatest) about his simular experiance with a bike of his, and intricate details of the bike. durring the whole conversation he seemed almost as excited about me finding the bike as I did, it blew me away. Turns out the guy I talked to at his shop about a year ago was just another guy that worked at the shop, not Dan. I gave Dan the phone #s of a friend of mine that lived close by so he could get ahold of him, because he had pic's to ID it and he would be picking it up and shipping it for me. Dan said that he had no dout that it was my bike by all the details I knew about every single part and by all the messages he got from other VBMX members, YOU GUYS ROCK! When I got home my wife told me my friend Jeff called and said he stopped by the shop talked to Dan and Dan told him that the bike will be all packaged up and ready to ship in a few days, damn that's cool. The only parts I won't be getting back are the 70's vintage Ashi spokes, the wonderful PD impound managed to knock a few out of both wheels so Dan just took them all out and tossed them because they weren't worth trying to save, no problem got some new double butted DT's waiting here.
Dan, your the Man, best of luck with your Bike Angels Program, I tryed getting something going like that with Peoria PD but they didn't seem interested. It 's comforting to know that there are people like you around, and I hope you make it out to Rockford, beers are on me.
Randy, sorry for any confusion and thank you for your support, get to Rockford this year, I owe you a few beers for the confusion, and you can take the Race inc. for a cruise.
Rick, I'd buy you beers anyway, don't rent a car I'll pick you up and any one else that comes along with ya at the Rock this year.
To Peter, Tim, Elf Dude, Cash, and all the rest of my VBMX brothers THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all the support, you have no idea how much it ment to me. See ya all at Rockford this year.
Chuck

Mom, it's always Rielley's fault, he's such a trouble maker.
James, no your not, I'll get it out of my system before you get to my house.
Look for azbikeagent on the boards. I told him about the site, and he said he would like to come hang out, give him mad props and treat him well.
Thanks again to all
