Tone, I'm with you. I have been having problems with the site for a couple of weeks. Not any other sites, just this one. Takes forever to load pages, lots of times it even times out and I get OS error message. Have checked my security settings and everything else I can think of. Rick...any ideas?

Hmmmmm....maybe this should be in the suggestion box section? Will try posting there too. Thanks for any help, Rick!

YUP! SLOW-GO!

Its called traffic. I am guessing because of the popularity of the website at busier times it becomes saturated with visitors and can only handle so many click throughs and posts at once. Peak times become noticably slow. I am guessing Hal or Rick or someone can share some info. In all likelyhood to make it faster it would simply require more resources which is actually jing a ling ($$$).

Yes sir and ladies, I didn't forget about you Sandi! Slow loading here too. Sorry Paul I will have to disagree with you on this one. I thought the same thing but it has been slow for me with little traffic on the sight.

I agree with LJ on the traffic thing. It's happened to me when there's hardly anyone on the site.

The (Baz) and I have been noticing this for a few weeks now. If someone needs more jing-a-ling to solve the problem let us know.

I'll join the fun, today the site wouldn't even load, got a website not responding window. I close it and go to another site and that site pops right up no problem. Like others said, it's been happening for a few weeks. I also don't believe it's a traffic thing.

Sorry guys,
We put a 52 / 14 gearing on the server.........
parabulla
Well then you better go get yourself David Milham to run it.
mr ed
Yep, seems slower at night than during the day. Just my observation.
proff21
ok folks, yes it's slow around here at times. try sunday evenings, it's gridlock baby. just alot of people trying to get on the best website around. probably need to upgrade to better servers, Im sure it wont be cheap so don't get "P-Oed" if it cost us some chump change. I'm sure we all would help with the cost. Let's all be patient and civil. no RoadRage people. my 2 cents......

I get application hang that is specific to this website. I'm guessing it's a bug in the explorer program. I've disabled any potential conflicting add-ons. I know that is not the issue. My system is clean, too. It's definitely not adware, malware, etc. My browser crashes regularly on this site. What do think, is it a hotfix issue?
NBKA-SENSEI
not a traffic thing, i have dsl at the shop and would not load a page to save my butt at 8:00 am this morning, now at 8:05 pm with dial up working great?

So if it is not traffic specific to the site, what is the cause of the problem? I am on high speed as well and it is definetly boggy during times when there are a lot of people visiting.

It seems to bog down on me at specific times of the day, every day (during the week, and Sunday Nights) when traffic seems heaviest. During the noon hour, Mid afternoon, and mid evening. The rest of the World Wide Web seems to work fine during these times.

Doesn't actually feel like transport latency to me. On other ports, the machine responds pretty quickly, even when web services are sluggy.

Rick, Bill, Hal, fellas... if you accept donations for hardware, shoot me an email. I love this place. Thanks for making it available.

Totally random. I tried to post about this issue several times, but gave up as I couldn't get on the site when I had issues. Though, I'm really glad it's not just my 'puter.
Surf911S
Its has been slow everyday for the last 5 months for me.

I'm having trouble posting as well, mostly with double posts.

mornings are the best for me, around 7 cst in the evening, forget it
Hal
OK..Yes, the speed slowdown is a direct result of our popularity. We are working on increasing our bandwidth to support more users/vistors. This will result in us spending even more than we do now to provide the best BMX website on the internet to our members. We are raisning funds to help us do this. The donations from the decals we just completed are going to this as well as any proceeds we see from the soon to be released T shirts. So if you want to help us out, get in on both of those deals. Also, we have a Banner over there <------- for site support, If at anytime you feel like supporting us, feel free to use that link.

I too experience slow periods here so I know what you folks are going through. We'll get it done asap. Please hang in there. We know.....

I've had slow performance on this site during what I'd consider high-traffic times, like lunchtime or after 4 pm, but this site is not exclusive to that. It's more due to high bandwidth use at these times I think.
I'm not sure what we are running here at my work, but it's fast. Almost as fast as the T1 connection my friend has at his disposal at his work. But it does drop off at high traffic times...
sandimom
Thanks, Hal! I know you guys are doing everything you possibly can do to make this a home for all of us. I will be donating as soon as I can.
Paul Springer
Hmmm, sounds like what I described. I am anxious to a get shirt and/or hoodie! Thanks for the explanation Hal, I am loyal to the site and wouldn't give it up for a minute.

Sounds like they are on it! Cool!

Yep, Sunday night, forget it, even with T1. It's not the download, rather the uploads.

In all brutal honesty, I think I actually joined a year before I re-joined. When I had dial-up it was futile, and I got frustrated and gave up. Point being, it may grow way further in popularity if those who still have the older tech. had a better chance to get to see the pages.

Bandwidth. The number of lanes on the highway a serer can use to upload everyone's requests. Everyone with high speed lines can use it up pretty quickly and make a traffic jam. Those with "Dia*-U*", take the few bits that are scraps.

There are a lot of avitars and pics to gather and load on these pages as well. Limiting the avitars size recently was a wise move.

I've never had anything so important to say, that it couldn't wait a bit....lol

More band width= more money. Copy that.
Keep_It_Warm
I'm going to donate $$$, but I'm also very anxious to purchase the VBMX Holiday Essentials giftpack: decal, calendar, black t-shirt.

Paypal sent.Thanks VBMX.

Seems to load slow most of the time, but my biggest complaint is the multiple notification of replies to posts.

Most other forums I use only send you only one notification when a new post has been made on that thread, even if there are multiple posts since the first unread.

Fixing this little issues would be much appreciated, I typically see 30 notifications a day when I get home and turn on the machine - even if there have only been half that many posts.

Keep up the great work, and thanks for having the site.
BRIAN HAYS
Ya, I've been very frustrated of late trying to get on in the evening but never complained because no one else had said anything. Thanks for the info Hal.

Paypal sent. Thanks again for everything.
