How does one, like myself, and others, find out which Landing Gear stickers, Se Headtube stickers, and bottom tube stickers are real, or fake.
Also, are all Landing Gear stickers the same size for 20" and 24" forks ? I understand you can only buy fakes these days, and once in a great while somebody might have real one's.,.,.but how does one know ? I'm going to start restoring a couple of Flovals I have, and want to use correct stickers, not the fakes on the forks, and the frames.
Thanks.

Send me the links too the ones you are looking at. I will match them too my NOS Landing Gears and the NOS Floval decals I have. Or the NOS Quad decals , Rippers, Maulers. You get the point. I know mine are real because they came from SE...

the real one is in the center.
generally speaking... 25 yr old backing paper looks, well, 25 years old. especially on die-cuts. it's yellowed a bit, the decal might have shifted a bit on the backing paper, it has some fuzz or other detritus stuck on the edges, it has some "shopwear", etc. you can plainly see the original decal in the center has yellowed a bit, the reproductions are pure white.
rule #1. if it looks brand spanking new, it 99% of the time is.
now, it could be said... why bother putting original 25 year old decals on top of brand new un-original powdercoat? if the finish is fake, the decals might as well be fake too.
also.. original decals, being 25 years old, are notorious for not sticking. the glue gets wacked after so long.

I've wondered that also about the LG decals on a PK or a Floval or even an OM..... Are they a different size????

I received a set of "NOS" stickers not all that long ago that looked nice an yellowed in the pics.
Upon receiving them the deception was obvious. NEW manilla colored card stock.
no, it wasn't from the zapper, either.

I believe all of the Landing Gear stickers were the same size.
I've noticed that the smaller size of the fork, the stickers sometimes were place higher to the crown. That could have an effect of the 20" ones looking shorter than the 26" ones. Who knows.

Sorry to jump in on this post but does anyone have any landing gear stickers for sale? I have just stickered up a looptail floval with the attached sticker set, which probably wasnt genuine, and I am having trouble finding a set to match the bronzey gold or brown on the frame stickers.

Thanks
Matt
