Probably a matter of opinion, but what are people's thoughts on the "coolness" of a Tuf Neck sprocket vs. a Pro Neck sprocket? I have a Flight crank set up with a Phil Spider, and want to be era correct as well on my 1982 GT. Any thouhgts?

Thanks!

I think either one would be era correct for '82???

As far as "coolness" goes, I always liked Pro Neck stuff slightly better, but only because I rode a National Pro back in the 80's! Pro Neck and Tuf Neck both made great parts, pretty much the same stuff really.

I think the tuf Neck looks cool... here is my 82 PK...

TAGAKI .... they're finish matches Phil stars perfectly .... depending on size that is ....

mine's a 130 pattern

if you must --- an early Tuf-Neck sugino style, not the later flat brushed finished machined looking ones

Thanks guys. Those are some sweet looking drive-trains!

Hey Dr. Frankenripper, by the way, why not the style that is more like a power ring (has fewer drill-outs)?? Those look darn cool to me. Thanks.
ol'phart
to me they're too generic --- that design started with PPP and then TUF and Pro snatched it .... they just don't do it for me

but thats just me though, and heck, you asked - LOL

Those kinds of comments, good Dr., were exactly what i was looking for. Trying to get a super swet set-up myself, so I'm curious what people think of the differen ring styles. Thanks very much.

Damn - old pic of SR cranks - this is better:

That Pro Neck disc is slick. Never noticed the difference between the two hol types. I have an old Tuf Neck chainring, but it does look like a PPP as Frankenripper said. Not sure if I prefer the more Takagi style ring better or not. Hmmmmm. Decisions, decisions.

I've got a pair of them old SR tubular cranks Andy..
I reckon that they are 1 of the best!! I'm taking mine off my Floval and putting them on either the Quad or the GTpro .....
I'd love to have another set that's for sure!!

AHH sorry about the off topic...
I've got a thing for Pro neck just because it was what i got 1st...
Isn't it a father/son thing with both company's???
