Last time I spoke with Ed was February of 2005. I was going to meet him after the Pre-race at Phoenix that year but the race was cancelled (rained out) and we didn't hook up that weekend. I know he was still in the Phoenix area.
Thats the one and only! Would be cool to run into him this weekend while I'm in Phoenix.
Bill, see what you can do!

He's still around. I see him every once in a while. He goes to the same gym that my buddy goes to. Cool cat for sure!
I see his choice in women is top notch also.

Well, didn't he sell off some of his old bikes, or most of them?

When speaking of collecting, when is "back in the day"? I agree, there have been a lot of people start collecting a few years back then they drop off the face of the earth. BTW, when Porter bikes first started coming out I think people were mixing these two guys up at first.
yeah... cool cat. sure. if you like paying for stuff and never getting it. cool cat.
still waiting on a schwerma champion frameset that i paid for 4 years ago. or a refund. guy had a rolodex of excuses.
ask Jeff Haney what a "cool cat" good ole Ed is.

Or selling him something rare because it's his holy grail with the promise it won't be resold only to have it in Haneys collection within 6 months.

I've never had a problem with Ed, buying or selling.
hoorah for you, Shannon.
next time you bud up with him, ask him where my Schwerma Champ ended up (he blamed all the problems on his "people", UPS, Canadian customs???, his "people" again, his busy schedule, his cell phone....)
then ask him where all the bikes went that never got to Jeff Haney.
That's not Ed. The Ed Porter that hung around here would have "two hot chicks w/ huge racks" sitting next to him.*

*He said that once on here, I swear on a stack of bibles.

Ed actually contacted me prior to my Phoenix trip in 2005. He asked if he owed me any money or product and I told him what was owed from those eBay auctions back in 2000 or 2001. The next week, he sent over the 7B that I had paid for and then he sent a PayPal refund for the balance of missing items from back then.

D'oh! Sorry guys - had no idea he'd crapped on anyone on his way out... I just remember his sometimes over the top attitude (see bnd's comment) and cool collection.
If I ever see him out and about, I'll say something like, "Hey, nice rack... The bike rack at home containing stuff sold to some of the peeps on VBMX and never delivered that is..." And then I might get my head punched in, but it'd be worth it.
See ya,

Sucks to be you TIM and Jeff. Luckily I haven't had anything like this happen to me in all my years of collecting. Which started in '89 by the way.
If I happen to bump into him again I'll gladly ask him for you TIM and Jeff. I'll do it the right way as not to get punched in the head. LOL!!!!!!!!
