After finishing my childhood Profile a few months ago, I realised I needed an old school rider. I always wanted a GT as a kid, but never got around to getting one. So it was the obvious choice. This build has taken a few twists and turns but it is finally together. I have decided to stick to the survivor chrome on the frame (for now) but a couple of parts are still getting re-chromed (namely 84 GT Bars and 82 Forks)but whilst they are being done, I couldn't wait to go for a ride so I have put it together with some newer GT forks and bars. Anyway, enough yabber...here it is and I'm going for a pedal....

Wow, that looks great! You do really nice builds.

Hey Rumbler, thanks, glad you like. I'm actually using an old school 401 dimple spindle and a hadley bottem bracket. I found the new school spindle soo sloppy, I decided to swap it out.

Hey Glen, let me know when is good for you...I'll tee up Leroy too!

Hi Scott...yeah, I have an awesome anodiser. He did the GT hubs, the original 401 chainwheel, the hadley bottom bracket and the dk seat clamp. He is a really good guy and has a sweet set-up, I just gave Roberto the details too...A Grade Anodising in Ormeau 07 5540 7677 - Mike.

It is an Sept 83 Nora Cup. Here are the Hubs he anodised for me....

What does the cost of annodising come out at? I have some rims, and maybe some hubs, that could do with it. I'm curious to see wether it is worth it to send them from New Zealand

Thats a cool GT, nice one

Well, I was on the floor when I got the bill and not sure if I got a special price, however, he did a powerdisc , flight chain ring, 2 dk seat clamps, the gt hubs, hadley bottom bracket all for $30.00!

One thing to remember (you probably already know), it is criticial to have a completely clean scratch free surface as the process does not hide anything, infact I polished everything which give a kind of gloss finish...also different metals will result in slightly different colours....this guy is good.

Stu....I'm happy to see that you completed your rider. The original chrome look pretty darn good on that frame. I'm liking the red chainwheel as well. Good to see you got your project finished.

Thanks mate, it is good to have one done (well it is almost there, but I can ride it!). Considering all the messing around to get the thing, I was pretty happy with it's condition and I have to say your GT inspired the red theme...It is soo smooth to ride, but a touch short, but i've got a DK XXL stem coming which should should help!

Wow! Great looking bike. I have always had a soft spot for GT's.
