Full Version: 6 ft. & over guys- what old school 20's are you RIDING?
VintageBMX.com > VintageBMX Talk > Vintage BMX Racing

I've been offing stuff that I don't actually ride, and have narrowed my 20 inch bikes down to the following:

mid 80's Hutch Pro Racer (still a comfortable ride, but I'm sure I look like an idiot on it!!!)
1980 Moosegoose
1987 Free Agent Limo
1988 Free Agent Limo

I'm over 6 ft tall, and was wondering what other 6 ft.+ guys are riding, as far as old school 20 inchers go?

'84 GT Pro Performer, but switching to a '98 Mongoose Sniper once I'm finished building... MUCH more leg room. The Mongoose still takes all of the old school parts so it's the best of both worlds.

I no longer ride a 20, at 6-6 I ride an XL 24 or Schwinn XS Superstock 24.

The only old school ride that did fit me after I got tall was a Panda Pro AM, and of course I do have a one off factory Scorpion with a 40 inch wheelbase, which was never offered for sale.

As for newer models I defer to what has already been posted.

'85 Powerlite seems to be the most comfortable, roomy bike I have in the 20" vintage category. I'm 6' 175lbs. I recently switched to a 24" Nomorea and I've never looked back--love it. If you're over 6' I can't imagine many 20" bikes (especially vintage) being comfortable but...

24- Schwinn pro-stock

I quit riding pro sized bikes when I was 15. That is when I put my 531 quadangle on the shelf.

Then I got a Kastan Pro Stretch with a Uni Blade.

Then an Elf Double Cross Xl

Then I bought a TNT Long Fellow XXL which was the last bike I raced. I will be stripping it very soon to build a Cycle Craft XLX.

Whoa Quicksilver, that Moose Goose is so cool !! I would love to have one of those one day!! Always excellent to see pics of those funky bikes!!

I am only 5 ft 10inches but I ride all my 20inch bikes, 180 cranks and a layback post make a big difference along with wider bars and a couple of adjustments.

Jamie, you have to get yourself a Moose, they are a whole new riding experience and great for us taller adults!

If i come across a f/f here, you'll be the first one i be in touch with!
