BRIAN HAYS
Bought this looptail Quad and Cycle Pro forks off Ebay a couple of weeks ago. The frame had black powder on it and the forks had brown spray paint on them. The frame had baby blue spray paint over the black and was stripped back off before I got it. The forks appeared to originally be white. Serial number on the BB is 1773. I believe it to be a later (81 or 82) chromoly frame as it has neither support on the double down tubes or behind the BB on the chainstays. Frame decals are NOS curtosey (sp?) of Jeff Utterback and the fork decals are excellent repros by Chris Baron that I got awhile back. I could honestly use some pointers on parts for this one if anyone wants to give their two cents worth, I'd appreciate it.
Pics of black frame are minutes after I unpacked it. The stripped frame pics were taken six hours later (I've never had to strip powder before, never again.) The pics with the blue powder are last week after I got it back from Chip at C4 (7 days door to door).

My ser.# is 3089 and is mild steel.I don't know what color to make it or the parts to put on it :bang:Retro or old school NOS!!!!!Your Quad is SWEET

Wow,

Very Nice. I would o some one piece cranks, a chrome takagi spider. Brown Suede seat, and some silver 7b or Weinmann 7b look alike rims. large flange campy hubs. Try to find a vinyl pad set...

I’d do:

Takagi Black MX One pc cranks
KKT/MKS rat traps in black
Chrome spider
Black Takagi sprocket
Silver 7B’s
Shimano High Flange silver hubs
Redline double clamp stem or Black Proneck
Chrome SE bars or Alloy in the Baby Blue
Black Oury Grips
Chrome or silver post
Silver or black post clamp
Silver Shimano/Tourney brake
Tange HS chrome
Chen Shin C183 (1.75 rear, 2.125 rear)
Black Kashimax seat

Looking good as always Brian!

Mr. Hayes,

I am sorry to inform you that what you have cannot be cured.

I get it, you got rid of all those bikes so that you could buy more and better bikes.......wooohooo hahahahahaha.

Good work!

Ride a Bike. Yes that is SE baby blue.
I would definately go oldschool on your build.

Ben and Jainbaby, Thanks for the tips. I'm definately liking what you guys are thinking. Let the parts gathering begin!!!

Curt, I know you are right. I said numerous times that I was selling off ALL that stuff and just keeping 5. Well....... I've bought 6 bikes in the last two weeks. I am so in love with Vintage BMX.

Alex, I'm trying......

RetroDave. I too am sorry I missed you. It's a shame you were so close and my dumbazz wasn't around.
