I have a Mar 1981 Super BMX with the Kuwi Grand Nats in OK that show Scott Clark on an RRP with that head tube sticker. Article says the race went down on Nov 16. So call it NOV of 1980.
Alfa send me a PM, I might have the head tube sticker you are looking for.

how did you find that DMG, just happened to be looking through the Mar 1981 Super BMX at the right time? Sometimes the sleuthing ability on this site amazes me.

I bought a head tube sticker just like the one above. I have a 79 Robinson and was not sure if this was correct or not.

That's an '80, and there was also a red, white and blue version. I think I sold one to Baron a few years back.
Hold on, digitally flipping through Mistah Curtin's BMXA scans ...
You can kinda see the RWB version I'm speaking of on Scott's frame:

Here's a 1979 ad, looks like you're going to need the prismatic decal to be era correct, alfa. I believe these were red over a silver prism:

Thanks everyone! The frame, which I recently restored, has a new sticker set. Problem is, the headtube sticker is pealing up at the edges. I dont want to fork out another 20 bucks or so to get another, but that may be my only option.

Headtube decal from 77 - 79 (Van Nuys CA).
Then the prism decal up top came out 79 - 80 (not on all frames had the prism) (Canoga Park)
Then Red, White, Blue 80 - 84 (Chatsworth CA)
I could be wrong, please correct me if I am.
Also, I don't know if anyone noticed or not, but check out the area code in the phone #, did the valley seriosly have (213), before going to (818)? Or was that just a misprinted AD?
Nice Ads btw....

The white Robinson is a mid '79 without a stamped gusset and small round tubing, the chrome one is an early '80 Pro with bigger tubing and still had a leftover square prizm headtube. Around early 1980 the headtube decal went to the bigger RRP shape cutout like the gusset type and would peel easy on the edges, I don't remember seeing the squared shape headtube decal after that. Check your bmxa mags for info.

FORK SHAPE I.D. easy to spot these on Robinsons from 78-87.

It sounds like I need the prism sticker (my '79 has a round hole gussett), but would it be correct to use the red and white one like the first photo of this thread shows?

I think the red and white sticker would be correct to use on you bike. I've seen them use both.

I have a Robinson decal question too. Did Robinson decal their seat posts? I just got my hands on a 85 GT that has a Robinson chromoly post w/ red, white, and blue decal. The one thing I did notice different, is that the blue "R" extends all the way, just like the red and white "R," rather than stopping w/ just the curved part of the "R"... Know what I mean?
Does that make the post a 1985 or later?

That red and white headtube decal looks anywhere from 78-79 more than likely, I remember seeing them alot around that time...Here's a better pic of the 1980 decals...after '83 they had a very small R in a circle (U.S. registered copyright symbol) in the lower right of the decals. When they put out the cromo seat post and cromo Pro bars in '81-ish they weren't stamped, just had the small RRP decal on it like on the seat tube.

But I still think that the decal is a repop. I don't think that ever existed in that form.
its not like its a big deal, but I highly dought that decal ever came on Robis.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

May be a repop or original there. I definately had one that style in '80, still have one in an old scrapbook (NOS) if I can dig it up I'll post it. ...I never saw it myself on a headtube though.

nitro - if you are referring to the sticker at the start of the thread, it was sold by one of the most reputable collectors out there. I believe it is an original, but unsure of the year.

There's alot of those original decals still out there for cheap, wouldn't make sense to repop those in my opinion.

Yes, parts of the SFV used to be 213. It was not a misprinted ad.

Tim, you bought that from Music City Cuda. It was a great score at a great price. Very underappreciated piece of BMX history you have there.
