I just got my GT a few hours ago(sorry i can't post a pic atm)
It is one with the straight cut on the top tube non stamped on the end and it has a 18 1/2" top tube centre to centre.....
Do any of you guys know if it is a Pro or an expert??

Check the rear drop out with the serial number on it.
If it has a 4 stamped separately under the serial number (in the centre of the rear drop out) it's a Pro.

If it has a 2 = Expert.

It has 01602 on the inside of the right dropout.. I already knew about that..(the 4 for Pro)
It has fresh chrome so maybe it has been polished off ????

Sounds like an 81 to me (and a Pro size - 18.5" TT).

hmm, interesting serial number. 01602 doesn't make sense. Possibly 81.

I'm not sure if the 81's had the Expert/Pro numbering on the dropout.

18.5" top tube (centre of seat tube to centre of head tube) is definitely Pro size, so, yeah, I'd tend to agree with Andy. Look closely at the serial again. Perhaps there is a lightly stamped 1 in front of the 01?

i hope you did not get that one on AUST ebay a week or so ago coz the forks were not GT on that auction.......and it still when for $400+

I saw that one too...I was surprised as it also had a crack in the seat pillar!

I'm one the way to completing my 83 GT Pro (Rider) and I just picked up another 85 Pro as well....I love the old GT's....you guys wouldn't happen to know which issue BMXA did a full test on this frame set? (If you had a scan that would be awesome too)

You have a Pro size GT. 18.5" C to C TT! Also non stamp on the back makes it about 81-83

I didn't get it from ebay.. I got it from a mate of mine that just joined up here(don't know his screen name yet) Since this 1 has fresh chrome on it and i have some ex condition black Zrims, i'm going to build this chrome/black...
I've also got a early 24" cruiser F/F that i'll build up candy blue(one day)

It certainly looks like an early pro, but the serial number has me stumped. But then, from what I have read, the early serials were a bit mixed up

What year is your cruiser Scotty?

It's an early one to... it's the same as that 20" only bigger.... no serial # atm cause it's at my storage spot for my bikes
