Any info on Privateer frames?
I heard it was a Steve Rink company
who started Peddle Power and Power Lite.
What's the story?
Anyone got any Privateer frame decals?

Privateer from what I can remember was a Rob Lynch company he started after buying Peddle Power bike shop. The bike shop used to be off Glassel/Orange Olive Road in Orange, CA, thats where it was when the BMX Trick Team came to town.
Then the shop was moved up Glassel Av next to the 7-11. It was then moved across the street and aroudn this time I think was when Rob bought it and started Privateer.
The shop was then moved to Lincoln Ave, right across from where the old "Western Sportsarama" track was.
Thats I think when Rob finally closed the doors on both ventures.
Who rode a Privateer? Im thinking Billy Harrison did before he rode for Hyper and I think Ricky Gilbert may have after leaving Boss. But not certain. Anyone else remember who rode for Privateer?

they were late '80s/early '90s. i had 2 of them (still have 1).
story was they were built by one of the incarnations of Cook Bros. not sure if it was the actual brother's company at that time, or the guy who bought the original "brand" from them.

Didn't Lonnie Tatton and Richard Bartlett ride them for a while? I seem to recall that they had a very smooth look to them. Sorry so vague.

3 big names rode for them. Ronnie and Richie Anderson and Chris Moeller.

Yeah Lonnie did for sure. Rob had alot of freinds as he was a good guy who liked to have fun and was also a racer. He just never had tons of $ behind him and some other personal issues.
Team colors were Blue / White with Yellow I think. One of the Cooks brothers would come out to the YMCA maybe he was building the bikes, but Im guessing it was the same guy who built most bikes in those years including my own, S&M, Brackens and others, B&E in Anaheim.
