What is the difference between Tange forks that have different number and letter combination?
I have three sets of pinched ended Tange forks that have the number/letters 9 H, 9 K, and 9 G. The only difference that I could see was that the rake of each fork was increased with a different letter. Any thoughts? Did each manufacturer use a different fork rake combination according to the frame geometry?
Thanks
Rick

I'm sure the Tange numbers are date codes.
I've had half a dozen sets over the years and they've all been 9,0,1 or 2 (79,80,81, 82) and all the letters have been between A and L (the 12th letter...)
I'm convinced it's year and month...

Thanks for the info. But what about the difference in rake? Any ideas on that?
Thanks

Hi Rick,
Are they the same style of Tange forks? There were quite a range of forks made. Also, the forks made before the TRX came along, in my opinion, could be bent by really serious jumping and/or bad landings, which may explain the raking. The TRXs were almost unbreakable.
I don't know if Tange offered different rake to different manufacturers on request???
Cheers Kurt

Yes all the forks are the same, the only difference being the rake and the "date codes". They don't seem to be bent.....but that could be.....the washer marks are light and the bikes they came off of didn't seem abused....the rakes seem graduated and purposeful.....they are the old pinched ended style....
