1975?

DAN
I've seen this bike up close and it is lust inspiring! Those tires alone are so killer. I'd say 75 for sure.

So where did you pick this up from DC?
Reilley1
75.

That thing brings a tear to my eye.
That is seriously beautiful in my book

Does it have a Bendix 70 coaster?
Randy
Thats actually a 1976 model, although the s/n is of the hand stamped variety it is the beginning of the "known" Mongoose coding. The '75 frames have a slightly different seat stay gussett tab and larger stamped serial numbers, no letters.

Here is a hand stamped 1975 s/n

1975 frame, notice the flaring of the seat stay gusset, it gets wider towards the seat tube.

Post a pic of your 75 Waza........
Are those Redline forks?? Love those Motomag 1's!!
I was only 3 years old when that bike was built!!
I think it's great that Mongoose stuck with the same basic design for so long.... Totally proven that's for sure!!! They might have been a little heavier than the other bikes in their later years but if a Mongoose couldn't handle the punishment that you gave it, you know for a fact that nothing else would!!!

Randy is correct....Darren's is a '76.....nice bike! There were 2 generations of '75 frames. The way I understand it they all had the flared seat stay lug. But the earliest frames had a tapered coaster brake bracket like my short frame '75....

Mine is the only one I've seen except for waza007's.

What is your serial number waza? I think they are in the early to mid 11,000 range.

I know of a high 11,000 number frame with the later hourglass shaped coaster bracket that was carried over to the 76's.

my serial number is 11443

You never stop learning. That is the new gold. All of a sudden I want my 76 goose only to see the coaster brake bracket.
