...Picked this up today from a buddy at work...he said it used to be white and he stripped it to paint it and never got to it...any idea what model it is? it's got a small threaded euro style BB so I'm thinkin it may be a mini, but what do I know...I'm a freestyle guy!

oldracer
want to trade some freestyle stuff for the frame??
o.s.Luma
You have an early Shadow Frame. All JMC seriel numbers with "K" are shadows.

pretty sure if you contact jim at www.jmcbmx.com he will have all the info you need ie model, factory colour, etc

LOOKS like a mini in the pic, but I think it's a Shadow. What's the top tube length?
I want one of those like you don't even know, but just can't do it right now...
Looks like the dropouts have been repaired,--- perhaps spray-welded and smoothed. Good job though.

Luma's right, you're the proud owner of a Shadow. Killer frame!

..cool! thanks for the help!..the dropouts had a bunch of "lightining" holes drilled in them, so I tig welded them and smoothed them out..good enough for chrome now!..Im sure I wont keep it...

You have a 1981 JMC Shadow. It was originaly chrome. It was sold to Monrovia Schwinn 11/12/1981.

That is a beauty for sure and you did a helluva job repairing the dropouts. Finding an early Black Shadow with the downtube in original condition is definitely something to cherish because they don't come around too often. You might have some difficulty finding forks but hopefully someone around these parts can help steer you in the right direction.

Be sure to post pictures when you get that baby restored and don't forget that Jim has everything you need to finish the job.

..thanks for the kind words about my repair work, I love saving bikes from the junk pile!..as far as restoring goes, Im gonna leave that to someone else, Im a freestyler, so keep your eyes peeled in the classified section!
