Hello all,
I recently scored a complete "79" Nickle Mongoose. It has one sticker. A Team Mongoose on the top tube that was put there many years ago by the original owner. I know this frame is not a team, it doesn't have a "T" in the seriel number. The seriel nnumber is CJ9 232947 and the top tube measures 18.5" C.C.. The question, is this frame a Motomag, Mongoose II or a Supergoose? Can this be determined fro the seriel number or top tube length?
Any help would be much appriciated...

All had 18.5" toptubes. Its a Mongoose.

The "T" designates full chromoly which was found on the Team and Super. Also the full chromoly frames had a flattened right seat stay which improved chain clearence off the freewheel.

Difference between Team and Super was decals and one was chrome or nickel, the other was candy blue or candy red.

October 1979 model in fact.
DarrenC
There was a team mongoose custom made by the factory for Danny Oakley that had a 20.5 inch top tube.

Have you got any pics DarrenC ? I have a pic in a mag of Jeff Kosmala on a 20" but it doesn't have a gusset and it is much taller than a regular Goose..
You can tell by looking at the gap between the brake bridge and the loop on top of the seat stays..
