Below is the explination of these forks from the seller (I bought them as part of a complete bike). I have no reason to doubt the seller but I'm thinking of selling them so I wanted to confirm what they are. Thank you in advance to the collective knowledge of these boards.
The description: “These are some unique forks you are never likely to see again. I got these from a fellow who used to work at ZeroNine back in the day. There was 1 of 5 prototypes made in the late 80's, something like 86' or 87'. 2 of the 5 forks were destroyed in testing, 1 of the remaining 3 was kept by the company in archives, and the remaining 2 went home with employees. I'm presuming this is one of those two. Apparently, these forks never made it to production because they were difficult and expensive to manufacture. They are made from oval shaped chromoly tubing, but they have a "flat" on the front and back of the oval. The drop-out ends have plates welded on for extra strength. 1 inch threaded steer tube."

I may be wrong but is the lower hole for a saftey washer?

Probably lower end Akizu or equivalent. The safety washer hole and the spot welded cap at the bottom of the fork legs gives a good indication of quality

TRX copies. I have a few years worth of the Sears catalog sized "Taiwan Bicycle Buyers Guide". There's probably a dozen vendors with a similar fork. The guy you bought them from has a vivid imagination. They came off of some Taiwan made bike in the mid to late 80s complete with CPSC required safety washer.

No stamping of any kind. They are 24" forks, I forgot to mention that.

I almost asked if they were 24". I think the Schwinn Predator 24 came with a fork like that.

I had a Schwinn Predator 24 with the forks you speak of RandyS. The Schwinn fork that I had did not have the hole for the safety washer.

Schwinn was the only fork I remember with that flat front and back. They came on the Team Model Predators. The safety washer hole tells me that it did come on a complete bike-Schwinn or not.

So... no one is going to confirm the ultra rare Zeronine story? I guess I can send the armed guard home, he's been tirelessly protecting these forks for over a week now. Poor chap--I'm not even going to tell him.
I also have a 24" BMX fork bullet proof glass display case with laser motion detection that I'd be willing to trade for a set of safty washers....

Find the guy you bought the forks from and put him in the display case.

no worries, I bought a complete bike with lots of extra parts--it was a fair deal even if the fork turned out to be bogus.
I'm sure someone out there is building their 24" Predator from BITD and would appreciate the proper fork. I hear that a 24" Blue Max or 24" MT would be a proper home for this fork as well.
Thanks guys for the help.

Does the display case come with heat sensors?
J/k. If you sold the forks you could list them with the same story. You don't know if he was wrong or not. Zeronine was kinda funny sometimes, but made pretty numbers.
