I highly doubt these Aerospeed arms are NOS:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-Hutch-Aerospeed-Cr...1QQcmdZViewItemas they look familiar to me. All the hardware is fake and the cups are suspect as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these originated in England/Germany:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...=ADME:B:EF:US:2Check out this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Hutch-Trick-Star-1984-...1QQcmdZViewItemI want to know why this seller thinks these are NOS arms or original at best. I'm not going to tolerate this nonsense not only because I have skin in the game (own several sets), but I don't want to know that somebody I shared dinner with at Rockford gets burned by junk.

Are genuine Aerospeeds stamped "Hutch" on both sides of the arms? I never really noticed.

Reproduction spindle? with NOS arms. The spindle only broke from use with the arms.
Oh, and real aerospeed cups are much brighter, machined bright vs. polished bright as far as I have seen.

No idea about the cranks, but the link to that last auction for the baby blue trick star is just amazing! That bike is a dream bike. Awesome! But the seller has kind of a low feedback rating there....
This is the same seller that obviouslt lost the paypal dispute with dansharos on the aerospeed deal.
thankfully, Dan got the $$$ back (I'm guessing), but there was a whole other dispute about the entire bike being NOS, which was a repaint
Bottom line, Not NOS, some repro parts & seller is shady.
That feedback is for a reason.

You're all wrong, they are NOS....NOS reproductions that is! That auction is SH!T. Where is the box? What happened to the origional hardware? Blah Blah Balh. Waste of time.....if they were the real deal NOS, don't you think the heavy hitters would already have them?
Another Aerospeed thread that will turn into a shouting match about they were the best, or they suck. More wanabe Hutch experts with their feedback.
Oh yeah my set is real.

To help at my best where I can! This is my point of view of auction #150029044346:
Q: why are the are arms THAT shiny while the cups are THAT vague and used? Or is the set a combination of all kinds of stuff/items?
Q: ask the seller to show a picture of the welds of the arms at each section. That is a part whether you could tell if it is A: rechromed B: original NOS cranks or... C: reproduction cranks.
And then... WHERE is the original spindle? THIS spindle in the 1st auction (#150029044346) is NOT original. But that is the seller also telling in his (or her) auction:"The arms are NOS, the cups are in perfect condition and the spindle is a reproduction."
In my own opinion I think that the cups are reproduction and the spindle (obviously) aswell and about the arms... well also reproduction. Why? DO take a very very closer look at where BOTH cranks can been seen on the inside of the arms (not driveside) take a closer look at the left arm, upper weldingsection, there as I think I can see the welding was too hot or too big that the arms has been curved there where the end of the arm meeds the welding of the spindlesection.
About the cups. On the INSIDE superclean! And... more softercolour than originals. So I think they are repro.
Again. To help at my best where I can! And twintoptuber you are totally right about Rockford!

All this drama over a crankset that BITD would not last two weeks of racing/jumping. They were junk back then and they might as well be junk now. The cranks on the Murray's lasted longer.
If they were not broken, they must not have been ridden. Even Ford had it's pinto! Ka-boom!

Hey PEP, sorry for beating around the bush and not getting directly to the point. I'll try harder next time.
For those that aren't aware Sarder is responsible for the reproduction Aerospeed cranks, thats why they are dubbed Sanderspeeds. Sander has these cranks built almost identical and refused to share the difference with the VBMX community. He's been very shady about the whole issue and in my opinion is responsible for all this confusion and hysteria involving these cranks as reproductions. A few transaction have occured where members of this board have been decieved into thinking the reproduction cranks are originals. Had Sander marked the cranks reproduction much of this trouble would not have occured but Sander chose to ignore the communities request to correctly mark the arms.

Hey Raybeard. You ask me what I think of it and you cannot realize I much I think of myself? Yes, I wanted to go to Rockford 06! Why in earth do you think that I post here?
And jerkoff? Come on, I show up and give info where I can and in the meantime you never contacted me and tell me on the phone, by email, by fax or whatever how much a jerkoff I am? I want to talk you, not by email, but by phone or only by the owners/moderators through this website who are gaven me a change to come back...
I am too afraid. Yes other people know that aswell. I am too afraid that I get murdered. It is true, there you have it. I am really afraid and why I do not know. Yes, I am crying. Because I wanted to go to Rockford 06 event. Because of cranks that I never made? I wanted to stand up at that banquet in Rockford. You can be sure that others know that aswell and that I am very scared to be killed. Because I never met you guys? Can't you see I want to help?
"Sander has these cranks built almost identical and refused to share the difference with the VBMX community."
Not entirely true. I never built the cranks. I never let them built for me or even to get money from it and to earn money! Information was given to recognize the difference between original and reproduction.
Back to that banquet Raybeard and twintoptuber... am I being killed? Because I really want that you contact me and speak in person, because I think it is better.

Sander who has threatened your life from VBMX? Thats serious stuff. I've never contacted you directly nor do I see the need to communicate with you at this time regarding these cranks. You made a poor judgement call in not marking the arms and that can't be resolved over the telephone, via email, or via fax. Why would you need to talk to me? If someone has threatened your life fire it away in a PM to me otherwise please drop the drama and face the facts.
FWIW I am not interested in Hutch Aerospeed cranks. I like others don't like to see people in this hobby get ripped off as it ruins all the fun, hobbys are meant to be fun not necessarily a method of making money. A method of making money would be called a side business not a hobby.

I am not gonna go into discussion with you raybeard, as you do not want to talk to me. My life went already to hell because of these stupid cranks. It has happened to me that I came here as a person when all was good, now all that is gone. My hope in order to get back that same happy feeling (knowing with the fact that I never made the cranks) is also gone as I was intending to go to Rockford, but I was too scared. Yes, by members of here. Still am...
And for your information it was not me who had the final descision of that cranks but people pointed me out as the reproduction cranks were called suddenly sanderspeeds.
Thank you.

I'll tell you something Sander, you should tell of every distinguishable difference between the original cranks and the repops here and now. Also, I think you are kind of obligated to peruse Ebay, etc. and let this community know when you suspect one of your repops is being pushed as original. I would like to believe that these actions would help your standings here some. Also, have you repoped anything else? I kinda doubt anyone that can afford to spend big money on those cranks would actually kill you over it, maybe kick your *** up between your shoulder blades, but they have a right to be ****ed off.

Welcome back Sander. Don't worry about it, nobody wants to hurt you.
You have to be honest with us though. You're now saying you never made them? Back when this all started, you put up a thread that had pictures of the cranks and how to order them. If I recall they were $600 or $900, I can't remember... and you had your paypal address on there for people to send money.
Besides the hardware being metric sizes, what are the ways to tell, especially the arms?

Sep 4 2006, 09:15 AM
rick,
In ALL the honesty in the world. Even in the galaxy, I DID NOT made the reproduction cranks.
I wanted to go to Rockord. To come over and stand up there, and to stand on that podium and show who I actually am! Because behind these letters, these words there is a guy who has feelings aswell, not only towards himself, but even more to the members here. From the beginning to the very end.
I was and still am afraid. It is a hell.

Sander you should not have to fear for your life regarding this topic. If someone has threatened you please seek the correct measures to protect yourself / ensure the person that made the threats is handled. Honestly the price of Aerospeeds is enough to **** someone off but violence isn't going to fix anything.
The verbal lashing you have received here on VBMX while harsh certainly isn't a physical threat (that I've seen).

I'd like to see pictures of your collection. I've heard from good sources that you have one of, if not the largest collection of JMC gear on the planet. Let's see pictures of it. That is how I'd like to see you contribute to this community. I know your father was a distributor in Europe. The story is that you have a bunch of stuff from the distribution business still. Let's see it. I've seen your auctions. You've sold lots of bits here and there. I wanna see the hard goods. I wanna see some of the JMC stuff you've got. Come on man. Give us a fix.

I'm not taking sides, but the reproduction stuff has ruined freindships, cost some people their hard earned money, and has contibuted to the sour taste of this hobby!
Now, Sander if you didn't make the speeds, you know who did! I have been around a long time, like many others.....Are we stupid? No! I have a huge e-photo album, and I have a folder with all of the pictures you ever posted. You have some amazing bikes too! However, I still have all the pictures of the speeds you made, planned on making, or "Now" didn't make. I have the literature you posted too. If someone wants to post them, I will send the pics your way.
With that being said.....Sander, I am mad at you, and I feel bad for you too. I'm sure you have learned a valuable lesson. When you love a hobby, you don't want to be the poisen! In all fairness to you, I don't think you should get hammered all the time. There were others involved in the repop game too. However, you must understand, "We The Collectors" spend good money, and we don't want to get ripped off. I wish you well.....I hope you can once again enjoy this hobby. Some might forgive you, but most will not forget!
Do yourself and everyone here a BIG favor. Once and for all....Please explain in detail how to distinguish the "Real" Aerospeeds from the reproductions. In fact, I have one more suggestion for you. Maybe you can type a detailed report and then Rick, Hal and / or Bill can put it on the board with some of the interviews, or something. It would make a good reference guide for all.
That is all I will ever comment on again regarding Sanderspeeds! This topic is getting old.
Good Luck!

Graeme, you can and may call me whatever you want. But who stepped up and is NOW in this discussion. Me and for once and for all I am gonna stay in this! And why? Because I do not want or as much as I can to avoid that members or fellowcollectors are being ripped off by buying reproduction cranks under original cranks stated. And I do not ask sorrow (or whatever you write that) but I do ask to give me some time to give as much as information as needed and at its best. And as I have in my knowledge.
Get real? Man. I am real! Damn it. Do not force it by saying me Dutch and I do not speak English thing, because what am I typing now then? Stop it.
But I say this to you aswell Graeme when I have fallen that deep, that I am that afraid of travelling to see friends in the US and being molested/hurt, to see important people (within the BMX scene) who are perhaps not there anymore after my visit and are not even able to go to Rockford (...) I hope for you you can understand how that feel.
This topic is getting old Hutch Freak. Indeed you are right and it is time. I like your plan about Rick, Hal and/or Bill.
Perhaps you also can provide/help me to get all the info whic is needed and to make a good reference guide! Feel free to send me what you have by email. When you don't want to do that I can understand that aswell.
Obviously I can understand also if members/collectors are mad/angry at me (why do you think that I didn't went to Rockford...) and I have respect for that. Please for those I ask to give/provide me some time to make the guide and step up aswell at the end and to forgive me.
I would in the deepest of my heart appreciate that.
