EL CID
I hate to say it but I would like to have some repops for my old bike but I wouldnt want to spend alot of money.they are worth something because all the labor it takes to build them.
Profiler
it's really hilarouis to me. When I 1st got back into the scene about 10 yrs ago I couldn't believe Hutch was the 'exotic' build. BITD they were just another company like any other.

Not the best, not the worst. Just another bike.

Strange how the only 3pc they made are so desirable. Never seen any in person, but from the sound of the posts here they were iffy at best.
Personally, I thik they look more MTB than BMX and wouldn't bother with them myself.
(and yes, I could afford to)

I dig all the old stuff, bid up the Hutches if you want.

Ahhhh, love a good firestorm in the morning...

Drama besides; the buyer of the Trick Star in the posted auction is the same guy who is apparently selling the cranks off it as NOS, right down to the same bubbles in the same place on the same crank arm. So right there, they've been mounted on a bike; so they are not NOS. That's number one.

Number two: The cranks in the second auction: What is the "reproductions" part? The spindle? The cups? Everything? And what's up with 3 arms?Whatever it is they sure don't look like the cranks in the first auction, so let's disassociate that one for now, for the sake of the argument.

Three: Every single Aerospeed auction that gets posted inevitably falls under the scrutiny of the VBMX cynic squad, thanks to the (we think) one-time reproduction of these highly desirable and expensive cranks. That, coupled with the timely reappearance of Mr. Sander, is the fuel for this particular fire. So now, I guess we can surmise just about ANY set of 'speeds out there could be a repro, unless someone comes forward with more information.

Four: I don't know Sander from Adam---all this happened before I logged on. However, the fact that he needs time to gather information from people he doesn't know regarding cranks that he did not have made....man, it's getting hot in here!

Five: Suicide, death threats...God, I love this thread!!!

As an aside, these cranks are like a curse: If one day I walked into a shop, yard sale, whatever---and stumbled across a set; I'd be hard pressed whether to snag them or leave them. I'd perhaps use them on a TS build or something, but I sure as heck wouldn't try to sell them. No freakin' way.
TIM
topic 1. unfortunately about the only places left you can safely buy original aerospeeds would be garage sales or a bike shop's dead stock bins.

topic 2. Sander has played "I've Got A Secret" over and over for years on this board. it is his favorite game. He's playing word games yet again. he doesn't know who exactly made the repros. He knows full well who had the repros made, but he doesn't know the machinist's name at the machine shop where the order was filled.

Sad thing is Sander does have one of the best JMC collections in the world, due to his family's connections with Jim Melton bitd. too bad he has reduced his reputation to road sludge over the years due to his repeated game-playing.

You know, I lent my set of NOS Aerospeeds to a guy who said he could reproduce exact copies of them for me. I met him in the California desert on my way to Vegas, he was hitchhiking. Said his name was Charley, and that he "had connections, ya know?" As collateral, he gave me a rusty linoleum knife and a big, black .357 magnum revolver. I thought it was a little strange, but he had this look in his eye like he knew what he was talking about...
Oh, man has this been entertaining. It just goes to show how bloody funny all this Hutch myth stuff is. The last race bike I owned was an XL24, and I still don't get it. (I ran Takagi 180 1 piecer's on it - heck, I was poor! Takagi's got the job done, though)
Rich Hutchins was not an innovator, he was a businessman. Practically everything they manufactured was a knockoff of another already successful product. But today Hutch stuff brings double the money of other brands, if not more.
Either someone knows the difference between real Aerospeeds and reproductions or they don't. What, it's something that slipped your mind, Sander, and you just have to go find the piece of paper you wrote it down on? BULLSHEET! You just don't want to admit you know anything because it will implicate you as the architect of a shameful scam.

Holy snap! What is going now can some one just bring back the brand name HUTCH from the dead and end this so all the Hutch peeps can have ALL the Hutch bikes they want! there was a guy in Iowa that made stems, headlocks and he sould be the guy to bring the Hutch brand from the DEAD! To Sander you sould go to Rockford Next year!!!!!
TIM
oh sure... the Iowa guy who was repro-ing the stems and headlocks and selling them as NOS on eBay.

perfect guy to revive the Hutch brand.

where exactly do all these knuckleheads come from?
'85TrickStar

All this drama over a crankset that BITD would not last two weeks of racing/jumping. They were junk back then and they might as well be junk now. The cranks on the Murray's lasted longer.
If they were not broken, they must not have been ridden.

This is the smartest, most sensible statement made in this thread hands down.

I mean seriously guys, I'm a Hutch fan and collector myself, but I also have a life.

Aerospeeds are nice for maximum bling on a high end, all-Hutch build, that's it. The very reason they're so valuable today is, because THEY ARE JUNK!

The few sets that did make it out for general use, were quickly warranty-replaced by flights or profiles, and, the aerospeeds went to the landfill.

These cranks have no mystical powers, will not remove jinx, and, wont make you a better lover.

Just thought I'd put that out there to the folks that pay vintage Gibson Les Paul money for the things.

Greg_Hanna
Guys, really!!!!!!! They're only bikes! All I want is for everyone to get along.............and a set of Thruster Pedals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRIAN HAYS
What Greg? You want Thruster pedals? I'll have Sander contact his guy that he don't know, who was involved in the manufacturing of the cranks he didn't make and have him whip you up a set of Thruster pedals.

Ride A Bike, Bootleg repros of stuff being falsely sold as original NOS is by NO means, bringing ANYTHING back alive!! It's just stealing at the end of the day.

...and he's a lying, cheating a-hole to boot. you want/need repro Hutch stuff that bad?

you don't think anyone with access to a CNC programmer and original parts couldn't make dead-on repros of most anything? the guy from Iowa is nothing special. just a ripoff artist who tried to do nothing but line his pockets with suckers' money.

I wasn't going to tell anyone this, but I should probably fess up
Ive been reproducing late 80's Murray braze-on kickstand mounts for several years now.
I'm sorry if anyone lost money by purchasing these items to dial in that late 80's early 90's Murray build they have been dying to finish. I feel badly about this, please give me a few days to compose myself and think up a good story to tell you guys. There is one simple way to determine the original from the re-pop.
The melting point of the re-pop is 17.184 degrees Celsius higher than the original.
My rep. is very important to me, and if I have to, I'll throw the guy who I bought the raw mild steel from under the bus to make you guys like me again.
If I dont respond right away to ypur posts it's because it takes me awhile to translate english into my native american Winnebago toungue and vise versa.

I have a nice 24" Nomura frame I will send to just anyone! As long as you PROMISE to send it back sometime, I don't care what you do with it, either. The only hitch is I can't know you at all, so if you have ever bought something from me or emailled me, then you can't have it.

I've never, ever done any drugs, but boy, I want some of what HE is on!!
retrodave
Send the frame too me. If you see one that looks just like yours. Sweare that you did not send it too me, and that you dont know my name. Please. I dont want too be busted for ripping people off. Dont drag me into your drama. Iwas only trying too help you out. I had no clue that you were gonna make frames and sell them as NOS..
retrodave
LMAO... Give me a break. SAnder knew what he was getting into. It's a little too late too cry foul.
alano
Sander,

I take a very dim view of people who threaten others, especially with death threats because it is not something which is pleasant. I however know l that many down here are not exactly pleased with how you went about with the repros.

now, I hapen to have here something that you put up some time ago. You claim that you did not make the SanderSpeeds, or Eurospeeds or whatever it was dubbed at that time. care to explain?

NFR5111
DOH!!!!! Thats gonna hurt!
RIDE A BIKE
Holy crap!!! This is going to hit the FAN NFR5111 send that Nomura 24" to me so I can put it next to it's mate my GOLD 20" Nomura I will send it back when they get board with each other

Let's see what he has to say now...

MY guess is thats the last we'll hear from our old pain in the butt Sander...

Alano just dropped a Singaporian nuke on Sanders nuts.

So Sander...one more time for the record...You don't know the specifics & you lent some "guy" your cranks...

He did. They cracked from fear alone. He didn't even have to install them

Everyone wants to know his partners name....It's right there in the ad.

New from "Sand n' Dirt"!

His partner's name is "Dirt".

I wasn't around for round one, but round 2 doesn't look good for the "Sand n' Dirt" team.

For clarification, is that just packing grade, or is it genuine pounding grade Sand n' Dirt?

This is the vibe I'm picking up on here...

Brian B, now that was funny.

This isn't pot stirring, just want to have things clear.

Sander is taking a good thrashing here for the repop fiasco, but there is another that was associated just as close if not closer who isn't being mentioned at all. Now I am not defending Sander, just saying that the way I understand it, Sander was the one who provided the cranks and they were reverse engineered in the UK and sold on ebay by rock_chick 1 aka Biago? Where is he to tell what the scoop is? What part exactly did he play in it? Or did he just facilitate the re-sale on ebay. He is currently offering repro Aerospeed BB sets no?
BLAZERBMX
Good job Alano. Good job.
twintoptuber
Yes!

I remember him hustling them a few years ago and was waiting for the Sander advertisement myself. Haha, beat me to it.

HalRickBill, can we just put the kabosh on Sander now, give him thee 'ole ban boot?
Bedlam Bikes
About two and a half years ago, I sold a NOS Profile spider on the bay and Sander won it. I never even heard of him at the time. He paid a LOT for it and days went by without receiving payment. (I insist paypal ONLY for overseas customers) After about 5 days my phone rings and it's Sander on the other end. Dude apologized for the slow payment and told me he could pay me in installments... Over the course of the next 7 days or so he made 3 separate payments.

Anyways, He asked me a bunch of questions on what I have, who I know, etc.... When he found out that I didn't know any of the race collectors here on vintage he seemed to get a bit more excited. He then goes into a rant about how he has several NOS sets of Aerospeeds and he'd sell a set to me for $1800.00 shipped under ONE condition. That I don't tell ANYBODY where I got them from. His reason was that he didn't want everyone hounding him for a set - especially since he was willing to let them go for a "good" price. (like I am going to send $1620 (cost of cranks minus the price of the Profile spider) to some shady sounding dude who was taking forever to even pay for the spider!

Food for thought........

Hey Bedlam,

If you have had a bad deal with a Singaporean, I would highly appreciate it if you do NOT tar all Singaporeans with the same brush. And, I might add, Sander comes from the Netherlands, which is in fact located in Europe whereas Singapore is located in South-East Asia. So you take that back about Singaporeans ok? There are a few of us from Singapore here namely Namza, Yasser, PKJ and myself who are honest people and would never stoop so low as to be shady to anyone, especially to our BMX brethren here on this board

Doh! Sorry about the typo on his location. I forgot where he was... My point is I wasn't about to even consider sending money overseas to ANY country to some shady sounding guy I never met who wasn't paying for a Ebay item he bought from me. The fact that he called my house very early creeped me out a bit as well.

I'll edit the post now. Sorry Alano... For what? I don't really know as I didn't even come close to slamming people from Singapore. But something obviously rubbed you the wrong way.
