after surfing the net for a while i noticed that the N.P.S.A. is not recognised anywhere. for a sanction that had quite a few tracks in the eastern U.S. there is no content on the web. i know it's been gone for many years but you'd think there would be something out there. any leads?

They also had a few in California. Somewhere I still have my number with NPSA across it. I still remember that metal thing we had to have so the handlebars wouldn't poke you in the chest when you crashed...

But here's a few links

Blue Lake in Portland was NPSA in 1977. The early stadium races in Florida were NPSA I believe.

Perhaps Mr. Esser can confirm.

You might want to check down in racing, Bags1 and Madden talk about it a lot (they may both well be away from the 'puter 'til after the weekend for NBL Grands).

I still have all my npsa trophys, And ribbons. I even have the original rules pamplet that was given out when you signed up. Oh, I still have my temp card too. Florida was split between npsa/nbl back in the 80's. As a matter of fact I just talked to the old track directers daughter the other day. She still has her race bikes. Told her that I collect them. Her kids dont even know what a bmx bike looks like, much less the history that those old bikes in the shed hold. She told me too stop by and pick them up. FREE.

The early stadium events in FL were NBL.
NPSA did have a following but it never became what the NBL, NBA, or the ABA did.
I have my own ideas as to why but I will keep that to myself.

In Orlando NBL had the track on Saturday nights and NPSA had it for Sunday afternoon. Mrs Trimm was in control. I rode with her son Jimmy. Anybody remember some the the riders from Orlando?

How about Oak Ridge bike shop out of Orlando? I always wanted one of those Capt. America jerseys!

Yeah I tried to come up with a list of NPSA number ones for a site im slooooowly building with no luck. Weird that no one has scaned any photos from their nationals or posted end of year points. I know NPSA was small but its fans were rabid like that of the UBR.

i still have my trophy from '81 i'll try to get a pic.

ABA owns NPSA. It was bought back in the mid 80's. Most tracks were converted over to ABA or went away. Maybe we should bring back into the fold. LOL!!!!!!!!!

ABA also owns, USBA and the AFA.

Direct reply to Thumperpilot:

So that is what happened to the NPSA. Do you (or anyone else) recall the exact year?

I have a copy of the NPSA Spokesman (NOV 75) that I picked up on one of our tours of Florida. It has Bobby Encinas on the cover and a cool ad for David Clinton T shirts inside. For its time, the NPSA magazine was one of the best. (I must admit I only have the NBA paper to compare). Was there an NBL paper at this point?
